While the engine swap seems to get all the love and focus of our project dollars, you can’t forget about what’s going to bolt up to that new engine and sit in the tunnel next to you. Even if you’re going to keep the stock transmission, many times an LS swap or adjustable engine mounts create enough setback that your stock transmission crossmember won’t work anymore. Even more to consider is when you drop the coin for that beefy six-speed manual or fancy electronic overdrive automatic to bolt up to your engine swap. Then you really need to start sharpening your pencil to determine the correct driveline angle and how to support the transmission properly.

Gone are the days of spending hours cutting up a stock crossmember, massaging it with a grinder and a welder to make some crude affair to get you close. Forget all that and simply use our ingenious bolt-in steel GM F-body universal transmission crossmember for 75-81 Camaros and Firebirds! We’ve designed this F-body crossmember to be universal transmission crossmember in nature to support most any manual or automatic transmission yet be a complete stress free bolt-in solution that will have your transmission properly supported and secured at the correct driveline angle in no time with plenty of clearance for performance sized exhaust tubing. So, whether you need a 4L60E crossmember or a T56 crossmember, our adjustable transmission crossmember can support your transmission of choice in your GM F-body.

Mount Just About Any Transmission You Can Think of With Our Bolt-in Crossmember

Our TorqLink™ ’75-’81 F-body adjustable transmission crossmember is built in-house using 10 gauge steel that is laser cut and fully welded for strength and powder coated black for great, long lasting looks. The main transmission crossmember bolts to existing frame holes on your GM F-body, so there is no grinding/slotting/drilling involved in installing the crossmember. The ends of the adjustable transmission crossmember mounting ears are slotted, allowing for front-to-rear adjustment of the ’75-’81 GM F-body transmission crossmember as well to line up with your transmission’s tailshaft mounting pad/trans mount. This provides a bolt-in mounting solution for nearly any transmission application you can think of. Two lengths are offered, a long and a short version, to accommodate the most popular automatic or manual transmission (see list for applications). Additionally, the transmission mount surface is slotted as well, providing additional adjustability to fitting standard dual bolt/stud GM-spec transmission mounts with 1.50-inch center-to-center spacing. The mount surface itself is also vertically adjustable up to one inch in height from the frame rail mounting surface of the main crossmember.

Premium 3/8-24 mounting hardware is included to install the universal crossmember with locknuts and washers to ensure your final mounting location stays where you put it. Our fabricated Camaro/Firebird dual exhaust crossmember provides generous room for the routing of up to 3-inch exhaust tubing tucked up nice and close for your exhaust installation to provide plenty of exhale ability for your F-Body’s engine no matter how low your Camaro or Firebird sits. The generous exhaust clearance cuts in the adjustable transmission crossmember mean you no longer must try and route your exhaust up and over the transmission cross member in the limited space between the crossmember and your floorpan or have your exhaust pipes run low below your transmission crossmember, affecting overall ride height and having you sweating bullets at the sight of a speed bump.
