10 Tools You Should Own
By Speedway Motors
Created 2014
Speedy Bill always said, “Tools are an investment, not an expense!” In light of that statement, here are 10 tools we think you should invest in, if you already haven’t. You can thank us later!
1) Speedway AN Template
Now all your AN hose and fitting sizes are located on one easy-to-use reference tool that will find a place on your tool wall or in your toolbox. Made of stainless steel, this template will last for years!
2) Koul Tools Braided Hose Installation Tool
You’ve all seen the nice installs of braided stainless hoses under the hoods of show cars and race cars. What they don’t show you is all the Band-Aids on the hands of the guy who made them. Those little stainless steel threads get sharp. This kit solves that problem, making the process not only relatively easy, but a lot less bloody. Speedway offers several kits ranging in sizes from -4AN to -12AN.
3) Valve Lash Adjusting Wrenches
Cut the time you spend adjusting your rockers in half with these combination tools. Just drop the wrench over the lockdown, pop in your T-handle, and make the adjustments! Available in several sizes, we have a set to fit your needs.
4) Serpentine Belt Tool Kit
Ask anybody who has ever had to change a serpentine belt, they will tell you to buy one of these kits and save your knuckles at least one scrape. With attachments for Ford, GM, and Mopar, and the standard sockets and crows feet for each, this kit gets your hands up and out of the way, while also giving you a bit of leverage.
5) Deluxe Engine Leveler
Sir, step away from the crow bar. You won’t need it to tilt your motor if it is hanging off of this fine piece of equipment. A simple hand crank adjusts the tilt to aid in putting your engine back in, taking it out, or just hanging it on the stand for a rebuild.
6) Spark Plug Boot Puller
Have you ever pulled the wire out of the end of a spark plug boot? I have. It makes for interesting conversation. This handy little tool eliminates that possibility by allowing you to hook at the bottom of the boot and simply pop it off. An added benefit is that it keeps your fingers away from hot headers!
7) MityVac Vacuum Brake Bleeding Kit
Bleeding your brakes usually consists of dragging your wife or kids out of the house, or bribing a buddy to pump the pedal. Not with this kit. You can bleed the brakes, and leave the wife and kids to do whatever it is they want to do. Unless they want to help, which means you don’t need this kit.
8) Titan Fuel and A/C Line Disconnect Tool
This great little tool makes for a quick and easy separation of 3/8”, 1/2”, 5/8”, and 3/4” fuel and A/C lines. All four sizes are contained in a compact tool that fits nearly anywhere, especially in your tool box.
9) Titan Self Adjusting Wire Strippers
Three tools in one, these can cut, automatically adjust to strip 24-10 AWG wire and cable, can crimp 22-10 AWG terminals, and crimp 7-8mm ignition terminals. Slightly oversize grips also make it comfortable in your hands.
10) Bearing Race and Seal Driver Set
Anyone who has ever rolled a seal edge or chipped a bearing race because they were using a socket to install it can tell you the virtue of this set. With six discs sized from 1.565” to 2.555”, you should find the size you need in this set!
