Tech Line Coatings 12 OZ BLACK SATIN Details

Tech Line Coatings presents this new air-cured formula that no longer relies on exhaust heat for activation. Black Satin is more than just header paint. It consists of a blend of ceramic powders and high-temp resins that, when properly applied, willwithstand exhaust gastemperatures of 2000° F. Black Satin provides a thermal barrier to reduce radiated heat and is corrosion resistant. Fast and simple application. Works on most any surface.

Note: This product is designed to be sprayed on and it requires no thinners. The 12oz can will coat a pair of full length headers.

Application

Sandblast all parts with 120 grit aluminum oxide. DO NOT USE GLASSBEAD. Clean metal using conventional cleaning methods, with acetone, lacquer thinner or other similar non-petroleum based solvent. When the surface is clean and dry, apply a thin even layer of coating using an airbrush, detail touch-up gun or other spray equipment that allows for application of a thin film of approximately .001" to .0015". Avoid excessive build-up of material as this can lead to loss of adhesion. DO NOT APPLY A SECOND COAT AFTER THE COATING DRIES. The coating will air dry to the touch in a few minutes. Install on vehicle, as the coating will cure with exhaust heat.

after trying quite a few high heat paints for headers and watching them all burn off one by one i ran into a problem. i built a coe truck (cab over engine) and painting the headers was in the program. i needed something that would hold up to extreme heat conditions and since its a show truck it had to look good on display as well. i researched about 20 forums on the topic of high heat paint and this one had the best reviews so i tried it. its been 2 weeks and about 250 miles ago and they still look like the day i painted them. in my opinion, if you follow all the instructions, this product will achieve the results desired and do what the makers claimed. its a great alternative to ceramic coating which is quite expensive (i was quoted $550.00 to sent them to get ceramic coated from Jet-Hot) and that's more than they cost to build them. in any event, the price of this product is a bit high but worth every cent!
