Our 14-inch Flat Air Cleaner Base is just what your hotrod or race car needs to not only look its best, but to make more power too! This heavy-gauge spun aluminum air cleaner base features a single smooth radius for the airflow path, reducing airflow restrictions and turbulence commonly seen in typical “drop base” style air cleaners. These drop base air cleaners require the airflow to change direction twice as the incoming air moves up and over the drop base’s inner “bulge” for the air to reach your carburetor or throttle body. With our flat air cleaner base there are no restrictions, allowing increased airflow, which in turn makes more power! We’ve seen up to a 12 horsepower increase using this flat air cleaner base versus the traditional drop base. Further benefits of the flat base design include reduction in air inlet temperatures since the flat base pushes the filter media upwards into the air stream above the hood, moving the air cleaner out of the hot engine bay.

Constructed to Last

With heavy-gauge spun aluminum construction, our flat air cleaner base is strong and will not flex under pressure. You can use your choice of 14-inch air filter and top and still reap all the benefits of having a flat air cleaner bottom. We recommend one of our Sure Seal billet aluminum air cleaner spacers to compliment this base. for mounting. The spacer incorporates a rubber O-ring for a positive seal to the base of the air cleaner (don’t forget that carburetor or throttle body gasket too!).
