ZDDP-enhanced Engine Break-In Lube Oil Additive from COMP Cams provides maximum engine life while also allowing it to reach its full performance potential. It does so by improving the surface mating of valve train components (especially flat tappets), rotating assembly, rod journals, piston rings, valve guides and other vital areas of the engine. This proprietary break-in lube formula includes the optimum amount of critical additives ZDDP (Zinc & Phosphorus), Molybdenum, detergents and high grade base oil.
The multi-viscosity, mineral-based COMP Cams Engine Break-In Oil Additive is fully-formulated and requires no additives or supplements. In addition, the oil is fully compatible with gasoline, methanol and high octane racing fuels.
A lot has happened over the last year that affects your engine. The biggest is the reduction of zinc in the oils you use. Zinc is a great anti-friction additive but it also gets burned in the combustion chamber and then goes out the tailpipe of your car or truck. This adds to the pollution problem on street driven cars, but not so much in race engines as they tend to be more efficient and have a better ring package.
Odds are, the oil you are using does not have as much zinc in it anymore and you need to add break-in and lube additive. If not, you can wipe out your new cam and lifters in the first 30 seconds of running. Adding COMP Cams Break-In additive when you assemble your engine and with each oil change will ensure you have enough additives to help keep your engine alive.
Simply pour in a bottle for initial break-in, run the engine for approximately 1,000 miles, drain the system thoroughly and then refill with clean oil and another bottle at each oil change.
