What's in the Box

Info

Wilwood high-volume aluminum master cylinders have the highest fluid capacity of any integral reservoir design. With a total capacity of 8.2 ounces, there is at least 26% more fluid than most competitive brands. More fluid volume means cooler temperatures and additional insurance for extreme conditions where high pad wear can compromise fluid levels during long events. With 1-7/16" of piston travel, there is plenty of margin when used with large four or six piston calipers.

An internal slosh baffle guarantees a constant fluid supply to the bore chamber during hard cornering, acceleration and braking. This unique baffle also eliminates aeration into the reservoir from return fluid that can occur during brake release and bleeding procedures.

  • Die-cast from high-grade aluminum
  • Heavy-duty internal piston springs provide fast retraction for immediate release and positive fluid transfer without the need for cumbersome external pushrod springs
  • Pedal feel is improved, piston retraction is guaranteed, fluid recovery is quicker and the bleeding process is simplified
  • Formed steel lids, heavyweight bail wires and bellows type gaskets keep the fluid in and the moisture out with correct pressure balancing during fluid displacement
  • 1/8"-27 NPT fluid port

perfect fit

August 29, 2011
I used the 1" Wilwood Master to replace my 7/8" Master when I changed to a Disc Brake rear axle assy. I purchased the Winters floater axle (Grand National Style) rear axle assembly and installed the "Big Bore" metric calipers, which require the larger volume of brake fluid. Everything worked perfect, I could not ask for better brakes.
Pros:
  • Easy To Install
  • Lightweight
Yes, I recommend this product.

This master cylinder has a 5/16"-24 threaded pushrod. It is best suited for an aftermarket pedal assembly such as 8353401290 or a dual master cylinder pedal 8353401287. If you simply need a clevis to add to the pushrod we offer part number 91631516.

The bore size on master cylinders number 835260676 is commonly the same size bore as the slave cylinder or hydraulic throw out bearing or you can verify it with the manufacturer for the clutch. On the brakes if you are considering the tri mount a 1 inch for the disc in front and generally a ¾ or 7/8 for the rear drums. The balance bar on the pedal assemblies will fine tune the brake system. One master cylinder in this size is not recommended for all 4 wheels.

I would recommend a 7/8” bore master cylinder for the front and a 7/8” bore master cylinder for the rear also with your caliper arrangement.

This master cylinder fills the need for many hot rod applications. In the application of a T bucket with four wheel disc brakes to insure proper braking and sufficient available fluid we would suggest using TWO of these master cylinders in a kit such as part number 91029972 or 91029975. This would in sure sufficient fluid for the calipers and offer adjustability for front and rear percentage of braking. If wanting a compact under the floor set up for a T bucket we would suggest part number 91631926.

These master cylinders are designed for the compact dimensions and various applications. They are not designed to be used in place of a stock master cylinder with a booster. There are several obstacles that cannot be overcome to make the use on a 4 wheel disc brake system with power brakes. What we suggest as a stock replacement with correct mounting would be either 91031422, 91031445, 91031440, or 91031446 master cylinders. They have sufficient volume in the reservoirs and for four wheel disc brakes you may opt for the 1 1/8” bore for less pedal travel. You will also need to verify the availability of sufficient vacuum of 18-20 inches to get full benefit from a power brake system.

These are not called a quick take up by wilwood, but we have used these several time with a 4 wheel disc setup and had great results.

These universal master cylinders are used for all sorts of racing and custom applications. As long as the rest of the brake system is up to the task then I would assume this would be fine for you. You will need a brake pedal assembly with at least 6.5 to 1 pedal ratio, however 7 or 7.5 to one would be better. Then choose the proper bore size for your brakes. This master cylinder should be used for no more than two brake calipers or wheel cylinders. You will need separate front and rear master cylinder is operating the front brake as well. For a dual outlet master cylinder which mounts like this one see part number 8352607563. It can be used for a four wheel brake system since it has one outlet for the front brakes and one outlet for the rear brakes.
