Q & A

What's in the Box

These are the steel headlight and shock mounts we designed  for our T-buckets. They were designed to be welded to the outside edge of the frame rail and include a set of 1-3/4" leaf spring shackles that have an extended stud for lower shock mounting.

  • Mounts have 1/2" holes for Dietz style or other headlights
  • Each plain steel mount has two different 1/2" hole locations for upper shock mounting
  • For use with radius rod front suspensions and Speedway T-Bucket 4-bar kits. Will not work with Model A and newer 4-bar kits.

Solid Foundation

This product is a good solid start to putting shocks on a spring behind axle. With the Speedway spring behind axle it takes a lot of modification and fabrication to make this set up work. If you are looking for an easy quick fit to your rod this isn't it.
Pros:
  • qaulity material
Cons:
  • Not A Direct Fit N Go
Yes, I recommend this product.

I welded these on, replacing my previous light mounts and shock mounts. I had chrome shackles so I didn't use the shackes but I used the provided shock studs on the headlight tower. Perfect fit!

What Shocks should I use? In the Specs for this kit, the shock stud diameter is 3/4 inch. But most of the shocks that Speedway offers have a hole inner diameter of 5/8 inch or 1/2 inch. What should I do? Is this a error in the specs?

Shock length is dependent on the application and ride height along with where the lower end of the shock is mounted. On our T bucket chassis we use the Sm300 shocks which offer a 9” mount length with 7.5” compressed and 10.5” extended for a total of 3 inches of stroke. On the shorter shocks it is imperative that the shocks be mounted so as to allow 50-60 percent of the stroke for compression during suspension travel.
