When Ease, Quality, and Safety Matter this Assembly is Right

April 06, 2016
When I started building a period correct fifties "A" roadster on a deuce frame I originally planned on mounting a stock 38 Ford pedal assembly and modifying it to work with the T-5 behind my early Dodge 241. It wasn't going to be simple without the original X-member so I looked around and found this gem! As soon as I opened the box I knew it was just what my car needed. It comes partially assembled and includes the Wilwood slave cylinder, brake master, and all of the hardware. The bracket included was just right for my pinched deuce rails and located the pedals right were they needed to be. I like that the pedal assembly is removable from the frame mounting bracket if needed. Best of all this piece feels solid and safe. It takes the guesswork out of linkage so you can focus on other areas of the car. Now when I bring my young kids for a ride in a real hot rod I won't have to worry about this part of the car letting me down! TCI built a great part that is worth every penny!
Pros:
  • Great Quality
  • You Get What You Pay For
  • Easy To Mount
  • Nice Welds
Yes, I recommend this product.

Clutch and brake combo number 91060070 has been used on many hot rod applications and if there is a clearance issue with the column and the pedals just like any other under the floor kit the arms can be heated and bent as needed. This applies to just the brake itself also and a common practice by hot rod enthusiasts.

With the wider frame under your 54 GMC you may be able to get in the power master and hydraulic clutch pedal assemblies under part number 91060070 which is only 11 1/8” wide from the frame rail to the outside of the booster. Something you would have to verify on your application. End to end including the end of the pedal arm to the rear of the master cylinder is 25 ½”. We also offer a non boosted similar set up under number 91060065 which will save some space if things get too congested under the floor.

On the 91060070 pedal assembly with the clutch master cylinder and the power brake booster and master cylinder for the brakes there are many possible combinations for plumbing. Two examples are using hard line on the clutch master cylinder and the other uses a flex line. If using flex line an adapter number 910318-3/8 on the master and then braided stainless line number 91031846 with straight ends or 91031894 with a 90 degree on the master cylinder end. You will also need the appropriate fitting for your slave cylinder or hydraulic throw out bearing. On the brakes there are two different size outlets and the adapter fittings are number 9103183-1/2 and also in 9/16”. Then your standard 3/16” brake line with the inverted flare nuts such as number 91031820 will screw right in. You will be able to plumb as you would normally plumb your brakes. Being under the floor you would want to install Residual valves close to the master in 2# for disc brakes such as number 91031345 and 10# such as number 91031347. To balance the braking front to rear a proportioning valve such as 91031353 in the line to the rear is suggested.

The clutch master cylinder fitting is 3/8"-24 Inverted Flair Male (IFM). Brake master cylinder fittings are 1/2"-20 IFM and 9/16"-18 IFM. These are all inverted flare connections which seal on the flare. No o-rings or crush washers are necessary.

I am sorry, I don't have any knowledge of anyone adapting this kit to a 54 F100. Anytime we are adapting parts to our projects there will be a certain amount of fabricating to get things to work. One big challenge is to estimate if a part will fit into the confines of the vehicle dimensions. Maybe this will help you. The overall length from front of pedal arm to back of master cylinder is 25-1/2" Overall width from frame rail to right side of booster is 11-1/8" Height from top of pedal assembly to bottom of booster is 6-3/4" Top of pedal assembly to center of pedal pad mounting hole is 8-1/2". If necessary you can heat the arms and bend them a small amount to get them into the best location. We also offer a non boosted similar set up under number 91060065 which will save some space if things get too congested under the floor.

Yes this brake and clutch pedal assembly will work with disc brakes on both front and rear. Be sure to use an adjustable proportioning valve such as 91031353 as well as two 2 psi residual pressure valves 91031345.
