What's in the Box

The hobby was amazed by the design, quality and performance of our Small Block Chevy cast iron Tru-Ram®® exhaust manifolds. Little did everyone know 'Speedy' Bill had more up his sleeve. These investment cast stainless steel ram horn manifolds feature an as-cast, unpolished finish for a distinctive look. Enjoy the performance of tube-headers with the nostalgic look of the ram horn, along with the low maitenance characteristics that stainless steel provides!

  • Provides a tight-fit to minimize steering and clearance issues
  • Same performance as tube headers with classic ram horn styling
  • Offers a distinctive look
  • Fits most round port SBC cylinder heads
  • Works with most straight or angle plug heads
  • 2-1/2" collector size
  • Includes stainless mounting hardware and gaskets

Application

  1. These do not clear the steering box on 1935-1940 Fords or 1955-1957 Chevy cars.
  2. The exhaust port size is square and large enough for most round port heads. It measures 1.375" x 1.375" and should be sufficient for most small block cylinder heads. Variation in location of spark plugs on aftermarket heads makes it impossible to verify that the Tru-Ram® will fit all heads on the market, but it will clear most straight and angle plug heads.

Notes

  • 3-1/2" from cylinder head surface to outside point
  • 3-1/2" from manifold bolt center to top of header
  • 5-1/2" from manifold bolt center to bottom of collector
  • Exhaust ports are a square configuration just under 1.375" wide and tall

Better than headers that always seem to

September 03, 2013
Put these on my '71 C-10. Look nice, fit like the factory "ramshorn" manifolds and won't rust. My truck is a driver, so I didn't want the "bling" of polished ones. They still look really good.
Pros:
  • made to fit several applications
Cons:
  • a little spendy but worth it
Yes, I recommend this product.

Zowie!!

December 25, 2011
Installed in an '80's Jaguar XJ. Tight clearances and very specific outlet location dictated by the cars rack and pinion layout. So I just cut them off rotated the flanges to the location needed and re-welded...the quality of steel made them a jewel to TIG back together, no porosity, and you can hardly tell I "remodeled" them, except for A.I.R. injection ports and EGR to keep the Jag emissions compliant. If they came as 'KIT' so the flange and "downpipe" were separate from the "ramshorns" anyone could rotate and align the outlets for difficult installations not just block huggers for the "geezers" in old ford street rods...okay that is inflammatory but these could be so much more than than just street rod manifolds. Turn the flanges to the rear and angle them and they would fit lots of four wheel drive applications. If you need a great place to start building a durable quiet exhaust these are swell. If you weld, you can cut 'em up and fit them to about any situation.
Pros:
  • Easy To Install
  • Lightweight
Yes, I recommend this product.

A Thing of Beauty!

June 11, 2011
The looks and finish are outstanding. Everyone has block hugger headers. The best choice for a classic look. Stainless will take on an amber tint. Collectors are tapered .040" so a butt/band clamp does not work reliably.
Pros:
  • Easy To Install
  • Adds Style
  • Original

No these will not clear the crossmember on your C10 truck. You will need the stock style ram horns from that application which have the turn back made into the bottom of the manifold. Sorry we do not offer that manifold.

Tru-Ram SBC Exhaust Manifolds Fitment/Camaro Will the Tru-Ram SBC Exhaust Manifolds fit on a 1975 Camaro? What would be an appropriate cam profile and intake manifold for use with these exhaust manifolds (rpm range)? Is the performance really comparable to that of tube headers?

No these manifolds will not fit your 1975 Camaro. They will have interference with the crossmember. These do not require and special cam profile or intake manifold. These manifolds will give you performance like a shorty header due to the internal design. The four exhaust ports are divided until they reach one point where all four ports come together similar to a header collector. The reason they give similar performance is because they are of a similar design internally.

The tru-Ram manifolds are not a direct replacement to the original Rams Horn manifolds that came in a variety of configurations depending on application. Our number 9300302 extend upward from the centerline of the attachment bolts 3.5” and from the centerline of the same bolts extend down to the bottom of the collector. From the head surface out to the furthest point is 3.5” and the collector drops straight down from the center two ports 5.5”. The collector also wraps inward towards the block to where the flange is in the same plane as the overall furthest out point. Use on vehicles with a full cross member under the center two ports may experience clearance issues for the down tubes.

The Tru-Ram manifolds should fit the 5.7 Vortec heads. They will NOT work on the later 5.3 and 6.0 Vortec LS series truck engines.

I think it might be a toss-up on the horsepower between the two. We do offer a header reducer to fit the Tru-ram exhaust manifolds part # 91013755 which is a stainless steel header reducer.

Speedway part number 9300301. These Tru-Ram manifolds go straight down from the 2 center exhaust ports on the cylinder heads. Most G body cars have clearance problems with headers and exhaust manifolds like that, with the exhaust running into the engine cross member. I do not think that these will work on that Monte Carlo. Here are some measurements to determine if they will work. 3-1/2" from cylinder head surface to outside point. 3-1/2" from manifold bolt center to top of header. 5-1/2" from manifold bolt center to bottom of collector. Exhaust ports are a square configuration just under 1.375" wide and tall.

The Tru Ram manifolds fit many tight fit applications but for verification of fit to your vehicle some simple measurements are suggested. These have the following dimensions: 3-1/2" from cylinder head surface to outside point; 3-1/2" from manifold bolt center to top of header; 5-1/2" from manifold bolt center to bottom of collector; Exhaust ports are a square configuration just under 1.375" wide and tall. Depending on steering shaft location on your rack and pinion converted ’56 in comparison to the above dimensions will help confirm fit. The collector reducer needs to have sufficient room below the collector for pipe installation.

Note: The exhaust port size is square and large enough for most round port heads. It measures 1.375" x 1.375" and should be sufficient for most small block cylinder heads. Variation in location of spark plugs on aftermarket heads makes it impossible to verify that the Tru-Ram®® will fit all heads on the market, but it will clear most straight and angle plug heads.

Tru-Ram® Small Block Chevy Exhaust Manifolds, Polished Stainless

The hobby was amazed by the design, quality and performance of our Small Block Chevy cast iron Tru-Ram®® exhaust manifolds. Tight-Fit Stainless Steel Small Block Chevy Block Hugger Headers
(Part #9300107)

The most universal shorty header just got better! Now made of durable stainless steel, these tight-fit headers feature a heavy duty 3/8" thick flange to minimize warpage with 1-5/8" diameter primary tubes and 2-1/2" diameter collectors. Block hugger headers are ideal for street rod engine swaps and can make tight installations easy. They tuck in close to the engine block to provide clearance for frame rails, steering boxes and motor mounts, but please see dimension chart to verify fit for your application.

The head flange features tall oval ports, so they will fit a variety of small block Chevy cylinder heads (EXCEPT angle plug heads). The collectors exit parallel with the oil pan rail to provide maximum ground clearance. Headers include gaskets, collector reducers with a 2" diameter outlet, and stainless steel installation hardware.

Header Dimensions (GIF)

NOTE: Stainless header tubing when exposed to exhaust temperature will cause the finish to change color which will vary with the exhaust temperature. Please note that the finish of the header when the engine is started, will change to a light champagne color to a darker gold finish and in some instance may even turn dark blue or purple. This can be polished back out when utilizing Blue-away or Simi-chrome polish, but please note that when the headers reach running temperature again, they will immediately change color.

Corvette Style 2-1/2 Inch Ram Horn Exhaust Manifold
(Part #9300327)

These "rams horn" cast iron manifolds were patterned off the 1962-63 327 Corvette but are not OEM remanufactured manifolds. They feature the big 2-1/2" diameter outlets and have provisions to accept original alternator type brackets.

These headers are copies of the original headers on the 62-63 Corvettes and can be used on almost any small block application. The cast in brackets are for the water tank on the drivers side and generator bracket on the passenger side. These can be cut off and smoothed per customers preference. These are a square port configuration with 1-5/8” top to bottom and also side to side. Compare to your head port size for compatibility.

  • 1962-63 327 Corvette
  • 2-1/2" diameter outlets
  • Use on almost any small block application up until the advent of the LS series engines in 1999
  • Use with 3 bolt header reducer/collector
  • Sold each, specify right or left.
  • Gaskets and bolts/hardware are not included
