i have a '51 ford flat 8,stock carburetor professionally rebuilt.my problem is when the engine is hot and after being shut off for around 5 minutes or so the carb weeps gas around the base.this is being caused by the gas being so hot in the carb bowl that it boils.did it before and after rebuild.will this spacer help me with this problem?will this spacer work with stock carburetor thank you.

This is precisely why the phenolic spacer was invented! The spacer would be used with a gasket below it, and a gasket above it, and this should considerably impede the transfer of heat. Hopefully, that will cure the problem. Further, the seasonal change in the blending of the gasoline may help. (winter blends are more volatile than summer blends). Also, the customer might try fuel from different stations, as there us some variation from brand-to-brand that could add to the heat/fuel boil problem.

i purchased the phenolic spacer from you to solve my boiling gas problem on my stock '51 ford flathead V8 carburetor.upon putting the spacer on the intake the stock intake studs to mount the carb on are now to short.they are even with the top of the phenolic spacer.i'm guessing they need to be a inch longer.do you sell longer studs?if not who does?or do you have any suggestions on what to do?thank you.

We offer stud kit #5601010, this kit has 1-1/2" long studs. If you need longer studs, any hardware or parts store should have. Stud should at least be flush with nut for proper length.
