We apologize for your problems but apparently you have incorrect pinion to flywheel clearance. Look at the pinion gear for surface contact and also the flywheel to make sure we are getting proper contact area and that there is some play in the pinion when engaged. If it is going too far in there may be a problem and if the teeth are setting too deep to where it is hanging up. You may need to shim the starter for proper clearances. Also see if the pinion extends and comes back out freely and easily when operating the starter out of the car. If everything checks out o.k. we can gladly try another starter in hopes of satisfactory results.

Most of the starter specifications are the same for these two starters. The 91067465 is our Speedway stump puller starter for the flatheads weighing in at 8.941 pounds and just slightly smaller than Powermaster number 91067470 which weighs in at 9.901 pounds. Both offer same cranking power and engine useag.

Part number 91092507 This starter is 12 volt negative ground but can be used with positive ground. The original 6 volt starters have been used with 12 volt negative ground applications successfully for decades. Alternators or powergens on the other side are specific negative or positive ground.
