What's in the Box

Info

Replace those old drum brakes with modern rear disc brakes. This affordable rear disc brake kit conversion gives you an emergency brake just like your family car has. The steel caliper bracket welds to your 3" axle tube, so it will fit virtually any application. The calipers accept either GM or Lokar type E-brake cables and are tapped to accept the common 7/16"- 20 banjo fittings. The 11-3/4" x .81" vented iron rotors will give you plenty of stopping power.

Steel rotor hat fits 5 on 4-1/2", 5 on 4-3/4", and 5 on 5" bolt patterns and has a 3" backspace.

If you redrill your axles to a 5 lug configuration then this may work for you. You will need to check the axle flange OD and the register OD that the original brake drum centered on. The hat used in this kit requires an axle flange of 5.83" OD or smaller. Also the axle flange register must be 3.05" OD or smaller.

The backspace that it refers to is the brake hat. The hat measures 3" from the axle flange surface to the rotor mount surface.

Part number 91031933 This kit uses an 11 ¾” rotor and adding 1” for caliper all the way around nets the need of a wheel with minimum of 14” I.D. in the area of the caliper. Unless you have a wheel with enough offset for clearance you will need a minimum of a 15” wheel

Speedway part number 91031933 and 91031934. These weld on rear disc brake kits are universal, and can be installed on a variety of rear axles with 5 on 4 1/2", 5 on 4 3/4" or 5 on 5" bolt patterns. There are 2 different kits, one features a brake hat with 3" of offset and the other hat has 1.94" of offset. Measure your axle flange housing flange and determine which one would work best for you. We also offer a bolt on rear disc brake kit that should fit that 7.5" Camaro axle, it is part number 91031928, but it does require that you use 16" or larger wheels.

There were some years of Toyotas that would cross with domestic bolt patterns. The three patterns on these brake rotor hats are 5 on 4 ½, 4 ¾, and 5 on 5. This is measured from the outside of one stud, skip one stud, and to the center of the next stud. This is a 5 lug pattern only and not applicable to any 6 lug hubs.

This brake kit uses 11.75 rotors and the calipers extend past the rotor approximately 1.375 so with a little clearance you will need a minimum available I.D. of the wheel at the caliper of 14.50”. Some of the caliper casting can be removed to gain some clearance in tight applications. The main issue is the drop in the rim for tire removal in the location of the caliper.

These brake kits work with an axle housing tube of 3” O.D. but are commonly modified to meet other dimensions. Proper alignment prior to final welding will yield a quality disc brake set up with the functional emergency brake option. It has the 3 variations of bolt circles for the axle studs and should work fine with your Jeep application. Choose the steel brake hat with 3” of back space or the aluminum with only 1.94” of back space.

This is a universal kit. Be sure to measure the OD of your axle, the OD of the brake register, as well as the offset of brake hat necessary for your installation. It is certainly possible that this kit would fit your car but I am sorry we have never attempted that installation to know for sure what universal kit would be best suited for you.

The hats in this kit have a 3" backspace and accept a maximum of 5.83" OD axle flanges. As long as those specs will work for your rear end then this kit could be used.
