Ports are British..hard to convert to AN

October 05, 2011
Was upset as couldn't locate AN adapter then found they were British threads. Push on hose OK for street use but not for competition. Finally took supplied fittings and tig welded on the male fitting I needed to use AN lines. Use NPT threads! Some buyers will need instructions as to where to mount the pump in relation to the bottom of the fuel tank.
No, I would not recommend this product.

can this pump be regulated with a different regulator down to 2.7 lbs without hurting it? I have a Speedway blue electric fuel pump and a holly regulator set at 2.7 lbs. The Weber carb I'm using can't go over that pressure. Will this pump work ok at that pressure.

What filter set up is recommended for this pump? Is it a good idea to have one mounted before the pump as well as after the pump? Could you please recommend some options?

You will need to have a fuel filter before the pump to prevent damage to the pump. You can also install a fuel filter after the pump but it is not required in all applications. With most carbureted applications it is not necessary to have a filter after the fuel pump. A fuel filter in the 40 to 100 micron range should be sufficient for you. Here are some popular fuel filter part numbers: 91011733 91011731 91011770 91002335 94081821

Mounting location As per the one review of this item, where do you mount this in relation to the fuel tank? I'm hoping to mount it to the frame rail forward of the tank which is mounted at the back just in front of the rear bumper. The vehicle has a fairly substantial rake so the further forward on the frame the lower it will be compared to the tank. In other words, the tank is the highest thing attached to the frame. Also, does the regulator have a guage port? Redwelter

Yes you can mount this pump on your frame rail close to the fuel tank. This pump doesn't seem to have much issues with mounting location but as a general rule you want to keep electric pumps as low as possible and as close as possible to the tank in order to extend the life of the pump. The regulator does not have a dedicated fuel pressure gauge port. If you will only be using one of the outlets then you can use the other outlet for a fuel pressure gauge. Otherwise we offer a fitting with a fuel pressure provision such as 6177005 or 6177008.

The red Speedway electric fuel pump is preset to 7 psi. The blue and black are preset at 14 psi. To achieve 7.5 psi you will need an adjustable regulator. The blue pump does include a regulator adjusted from 4.5 to 9 psi

Holley 12-753 Fuel Pump Relay Kit, 30 Amp
(Part #42512753)

This Holley kit is intended primarily for those applications running an electric pump. The long wire runs in these kinds of installations can sometimes result in a voltage drop at the electric pump. Installation of this kit is good insurance that the fuel pump will be receiving full voltage from the battery. Holley P/N 12-753 can be used with any electric fuel pump, as long as the current load is not above 30 amps. It will work with 12, 16 and 24 volt systems and comes equipped with 12 AWG that provide extra current carrying capacity with minimal voltage loss. A 30 amp relay is included with a relay socket wired with extra long leads specifically designed to reduce the number of splices required. Quality insulated crimp connectors are provided to make necessary splices where required. Detailed installation instructions are included.

Holley 12-810 Universal Safety Pressure Switch
(Part #42512810)

The Holley P/N 12-810 fuel pump pressure safety switch is a good peace of mind to help save your engine in the unlikely event of oil pressure loss. The safety switch is installed in conjunction with the oil pressure switch and if a loss of oil pressure should occur, the switch will remove power from the electric fuel pump stalling the engine due to a loss of fuel. This safety switch can help to save your engine if it losses oil pressure.

  • Safety pressure switch that reads oil pressure
  • Will shut off fuel pump when oil pressure drops below 5 psi
  • Includes detailed instructions
