    The MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor Wire is "the" performance wire. Engineered from the inside out, the 8.5 offers everything you have ever wanted in a wire; incredibly low resistance without electronic interference! In a single 12 inch length of low resistance spark plug wire there is only 40 - 50 ohms of resistance! That is the lowest resistance of any helically wound wire.

    To accomplish this, MSD uses a copper alloy conductor due to it's great voltage carrying capabilities. The low resistance results in less loss in spark energy so more reaches the spark plug. The conductor is wound extremely tight around a special center core. So tight in fact, that there is over 40 feet of conductor wrapped into a single foot of plug wire. This winding procedure, combined with a ferro-magnetic impregnated center core, produces an extremely effective Electro Magnetic Interference (EMI) "choke". This choke, or suppression capability, keeps the EMI inside the wire where it cannot interfere with other electronics on your vehicle. The outer sleeve that surrounds the conductor assembly is just as impressive. A proprietary blend of silicone and synthetic material produce a sleeve that is highly resistant to high heat as well as abrasion and tears.

    The MSD Digital 6AL features a higher output with 530 primary volts and 135mJ of spark energy. Efficient components use less current to produce more power. Set an rpm limit on the MSD 6AL rev limiter with two rotary dials. Has the same bolt pattern as the original 6AL, but with a lower profile housing. Built-in LED for system checks. All wires exit the same side through a locked, sealed connector. Compatible with 4, 6 and 8-cylinder engines.

    MSD offers a universal set of 8.5mm Super Conductor plug wires for the Midget racers. These 50 ohms per foot resistance wires are supplied with the coil side’s special locking terminal and boot crimped to the wires. The spark plug side boots and terminals are supplied loose so the wires can be routed and crimped for each application. A special mini-stripper-crimper tool is also supplied.

    Note: These low resistance spark plug wires are only applicable to an MSD Midget Coil Pack #8240 ignition system.

    The cap and rotor of any ignition system must be considered mainte­nance items. Just as you change the oil and filter of your car, you should always replace the cap and rotor as a set. To make things easy, we now offer these Cap and Rotor Replacement Kits.

    This MSD Cap (MSD #84335) fits all of the MSD Distributors that use the GM Socket sytle cap (MSD #8437). It will also fit GM Distributors that use a "window" style cap. 

    Cap MSD# 8433:

    • DuPont Rynite material
    • Spark plug-style terminals with improved locking connection
    • Optional wire retainer with caps to lock the wires in place
    • HEI-Type terminals, rather than socket-type
    • Can be used in place of the older design

    Rotor MSD# 8467:

    • Standard on most MSD Pro-Billet Distributors

    MSD's Non-Magnetic Pick-Ups are engineered for extreme applications. In fact, this Pick-Up was designed and tested on 300+ top fuel dragsters! To live up to MSD's demading expectations in these extreme applications, MSD designed and built the Pick-Up in-house. That way, they can control every aspcet of the assembly and quality. 

    Each Pick-Up is hand wound on a special bobbin and terminated to MSD's tinned conductor, teflon jacketed wiring. These wires are also routed through a strain relief for protection. This assembly is then installed into the precision housing and is potted with a fracture resistant epoxy compound. To ensure that the windings are entirely incased in epoxy, the Pick-Ups undergo a vacuum procedure to remove any air inside the housing. All of these procedures are necessary to product the strongest, most reliable non-magnetic Pick-Up avaiable. 

    The Non-Magnetic Pick-Ups are available in two housing sizes. The 3/4" model is used with MSD’s Flying Magnet Crank Trigger Kits. The 3/8" diameter Pick-Ups are used with MSD’s Sprint Car Crank Trigger systems as well as the professional racing kits from RCD and PSI.

    MSD molds their most popular distributor caps in-house. This cap is injection molded from DuPont Rynite material and features spark plug-style terminals. The terminals offer improved locking connections and the Rynite material is extremely strong with excellent dielectric properties. Plus, most caps have an optional wire retainer that is supplied with these caps to lock the wires in place. 

    Includes a girdle for retaining the wires to the cap. MSD has used this new design on many distributors built since the summer of 2002. Has HEI-Type terminals, rather than socket-type. Can be used in place of the older design.

    Early Flathead racers and cruisers alike will be excited to see these front mount Flathead Distributors! These distributors are built around a CNC-machined billet aluminum housing for precise tolerances.

    The distributor is topped off with our an MSD Crab Cap with spark plug style terminals for improvied wire connections. Just under the cap and Rynite race rotor is MSD's adjustable mechanical advance. This assembly features chromoly construction with TIG-welded weight pins to secure the precision fine blanked weights. MSD supplies different advance springs and stop bushings so you can dial-in an advance curve to meet your Flathead's specs. 

    Just under the advance is MSD's race-proven magnetic pick-up. This puck, combined with a reluctor, produces accurate trigger signals that are responsible for firing the MSD Ignition Control. Bring your Flathead up-to-date with MSD performance.

    The Ready-to-Run dis­tributor earns its name with simple wiring. One wire to 12 volts, one to coil negative and another to ground. That’s it! A match­ing harness with a 3-pin Weathertight connector is supplied.  Does not require an MSD Ignition Control.

    If you're a 348/409 fan, you'll be excited to learn that you can get a high performance distributor for your classic Chevy engine! This distributor is ready-to-run meaning that you simply need to install it in the engine and connect three wires to fire up the engine. No external ignition controls are required with this distributor because it has a powerful module built into the housing. This module preduces a stout inductive spark that will improve the overall driveablility and performance of your classic Chevy.

    Just above the maintenance-free magnetic pick-up there is a chromoly mechanical advnace assembly that provides a smooth advance of the timing and is easy to adjust. There is also a vacuum canister for cruisers. If you're concerned about looking stock, the distributor accepts a stock-style points distributor cap.
