    If you want the early look but are reluctant to use old non-energizing drum brakes, we have just what you need. Our 100% new self-energizing backing plate assemblies come complete with shoes, wheel cylinders and hardware. Fits either the front or rear of 1937-48 Ford cars or 1937-47 Ford half-ton pickups with original style rear axle.

    These brake assemblies can be used with Buick drums and 1948 Ford hubs, or we also offer new iron 12" x 2" brake drums (910-65400) with 5 on 5-1/2" bolt circle which are impossible to find elsewhere.

    Wheel Cylinder Inlet: 7/16"-20 straight thread
    NOT 7/16"-20 IFF
    Inlet fitting will require a sealing washer or O-ring style fitting
    Bolt Pattern: 3-3/8" center-to-center both horizontal and vertically
    If using Model A or B spindles the holes will have to be elongated inward to fit the narrower bolt pattern

    We recommend use of adapter rings 916-31928 to keep the spindle centered in the backing plate

                We offer these rear drum brake kits for popular 9" Ford rear axles. Each kit has new 11" x 2-1/4" drums, backing plates, shoes, wheel cylinders, springs, emergency brake arm and hardware.  

    Fits New style Big Ford housing with 2-1/2" axle offset and 3.15" axle bearing. Drums drilled for 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern.

    Beautifully cast aluminum, finned brake scoops. Originally designed for '39 to '48 Ford backing plates - but flexible enough for other applications. These functional pieces of art provide cool air to your brakes and a cool appearance to your car.

    You can add a contrasting paint color to the deep textured grooves as shown. You can use 2 per wheel for an even more dramatic and functional look. Installation requires drilling and tapping to your backing plates. These are sold in pairs, one left, one right. The scoops are drilled and tapped for 1/4-20 screws. We provide a drilling template for your backing plates. Made in USA.

Kit comes equipped with quality one-piece aluminum adjusters and aluminum ferrule to eliminate fraying of stainless housing. Outer housing is designed with specially extruded liner for extended life of the cable. Stainless inner cable resists moisture.

    Design allows rear end backing plate fittings to be removed without removing brake cables. Lokar cables also feature adjustable cable lock and clevis. Kit is complete with cable bracket and spacers. Kit includes two 8 foot black outer housings that “U-Cut-to-Fit".

    Kit allows you to install 1953-1956 Ford F-100 11" x 2" drum brakes on your 1937-1948 Ford car spindles. Kit includes new bearings and seals to allow conversion. 

    You must supply 1953-1956 F-100 front backing plates, hubs and 1953-1966 brake drums. Minor grinding required on 1937-1941 spindles.

    Tech Tip: If replacing all brake hardware, 1966 F-100's had self adjusting brakes.
