    Original Flathead water pumps have always suffered from unreliable bronze bushings and carbon seals. They almost always leaked and even Ford manuals warned mechanics not to tighten fan belts too tight. The excess slack allowed belts to slip and lose contact with the generator and water pump pulleys, causing more cooling and power problems.

    Speedway's completely new water pumps feature severe-duty roller and ball bearings, close tolerances and modular impellers to provide maximum flow and reduce cavitation. They also have modern ceramic seals on a heavy duty 5/8" shaft, making the assembly exceptionally strong and more efficient.

    Works with 5/8" belts. Includes mount gaskets.

    KRC's adjustable idler - tensioner is used to keep proper belt tension and prevent belt slippage when using a mechanical fan. This can occur on both single drive belt and pulley systems that have a steering pump mounted of the front of an engine.

    KRC's idler tensioner is essential on dirt cars. Belt slippage can occur on cars that exceed 7,000 RPM and/or use a large or heavy fixed fan blade or a fan blade with a lot of pitch, which potentially causes overheating & pulleys to wear faster. This occurs on both single drive belt and pulley systems with a power steering pump mounted on the front of the engine. 

    Fan belts and pulleys work to slow down the fan. The belt slips because it is stretching to slow the fan. The belt heats up as the the the stretching increases. The only way to properly tension the belt is with an adjustable idler/tensioner. This keeps the engine running cooler because the belt is tighter. This will allow faster acceleration out of turns and harder braking on corners.

    These Fel-Pro gaskets work with both cast iron and aluminum heads. Pre-flattened steel wire ring gaskets have the strength of steel wire sealing with minimum brinelling of aluminum heads. Pre-flattened copper wire ring gaskets will not brinell aluminum heads. They offer superior heat dissipation. Multi-layer steel gaskets offer current leading-edge technology and provide a long-term, leakproof seal called Perma Torque MLS.

    • 4.166" bore gaskets can be used on 400 race engines with up to 4.155" max bore with minimal chamfer
    • When using aluminum heads, we recommend gaskets with soft copper wire rings (such as 344-1010). This ensures that the aluminum head is not "scarred" by the combustion seal. Shim style 344-1094 will also work well with aluminum heads.
