Q & A

What's in the Box

These S/B Chevy Clipster headers are for 1964-87 GM A*, F* and G-Body cars and fit many street rod applications with uni-body front clip suspensions. Clipster headers use longer primaries than Tight Tucks, yet shorter than full length headers. Collectors exit toward the rear of the engine compartment providing excellent ground clearance on "slammed" applications as well as clearing steering and suspension components.

1-5/8" primaries and 3" collectors. Fits straight or angle plug heads.

Header Sizing Chart (GIF)

WARNING: This header will require the use of Autolite 'short' style spark plugs OR NGK BR8ECM type plugs to be used for clearance purposes.  No other plugs or shorty plugs offered other than Autolite branded 'shorty' plugs will clear.

Application

Applications include, but not limited to:

  • 1967-1981 Camaro
  • 1964-1981 Chevelle, Malibu
  • 1964-1988 El Camino
  • 1968-1979 Nova
  • 1970-1988 Monte Carlo

Notes

  1. Works with angle plug heads.
  2. Will not work with D-port heads.
  3. May interfere with mechanical clutch linkage (substitute headers 930-0109).
  4. If fitting on an early A-Body, #5 primary tube may interfere with steering shaft. Some 'massaging' may be required.
  5. Will not fit with Saginaw Close Ratio 825 Steering Box.
  6. Does not fit 1967-69 Camaro with A/C.
  7. Will fit Detroit Speed & Engineering front subframes with rack and pinion steering.

# 5 SPARK PLUG IS 1/4" FROM THE HEADER

January 05, 2014
FIT GREAT HOWEVER #5 SPARK PLUG IS SO TIGHT TO THE HEADER I'M NOT EVEN SURE THAT THE SPARK PLUG WIRE WILL FIT WITHOUT TOUCHING. IS THIS A PROBLEM WITH THE HEADER DESIGN OR IS THE SET I HAVE INCORRECTLY WELDED TOGETHER? THE HEADS ARE A STRAIGHT PLUG SET I DID TRY THEM ON A SET OF ANGLE PLUGS AND THERE IS NO REAL DIFFERENCE. ANYBODY ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM?
No, I would not recommend this product.

These are a nice product, HOWEVER, they are advertised as fitting a '64 and up GM "A" body. These WILL NOT fit a '64 - '66 A body as the driver's side header hits the front crossmember. I ordered a set for my '65 Malibu, and they do not fit. The box they came in clearly states "'67-'81 Camaro" They will fit '67-up models.
Pros:
  • Thick flange design
  • Hardware and gaskets
  • Comes with all necessary
Yes, I recommend this product.

I have a small-block Chevy in my '67 Cutlass and had a hard time finding headers that would fit this application. I stumbled upon these headers and they fit perfectly. I thought the price was very reasonable and the delivery was just as promised. I will definitely recommend this product to others.
Pros:
  • Reasonably Priced
  • Perfect Fit
  • Fast delivery
Yes, I recommend this product.

Part number 9300108 These headers are designed for the A, F, and G body cars and your pickup should have sufficient room for clearance. Some basic measuring at home for dimension comparison is always suggested. Below is a chart. Width of header at widest point from exhaust port - 4" Height of header from top of flange to lowest point - 16" Length of header from front of flange to collector - 16" Tube size - 1-5/8" Collector size - 3.00"

Those headers part # 9300108 will not work with a V8 in the S10 chassis. We do have a header part # 41869520 that is made to work with the Small block Chevy in the S10 chassis. It does have 1 1/2" primaries and they have a 2 1/2" collector but will work in your truck and shouldn't cost you any noticeable amount of power.

Those headers will fit your chassis and the SBC motor with angled plug heads. There are always many factors to remember for headers so a guaranteed fit can not be made.

NOTE: Stainless header tubing when exposed to exhaust temperature will cause the finish to change color which will vary with the exhaust temperature. Please note that the finish of the header when the engine is started, will change to a light champagne color to a darker gold finish and in some instance may even turn dark blue or purple. This can be polished back out when utilizing Blue-away or Simi-chrome polish, but please note that when the headers reach running temperature again, they will immediately change color.
