What's in the Box

These tie rod/drag link kits are pre-cut and tapped lengths of 7/8" O.D. tubing available in multiple lengths. Each kit comes complete with 5/8" heim joint rod ends and jam nuts. Tubing will be tapped with right-hand & left-hand threads for adjustability.

Select your length based on the center-to-center of the heim rod ends, which will also be the eye-to-eye distance between the steering arms (the acutal tube will be 3" shorter than length selected). At selected length, the link will be adjustable from 1/4" shorter to 1/2" longer.

Normally used with 49-54 Chevy style spindles and flat steel steering arms. Can be used with stock type Ford arms if drilled out to 5/8".

Given the cost of these rod ends and steel, I could not build them myself for this cost. Length is as advertised, they come nicely painted and rod ends are of good quality.

Positive employee attitude

August 07, 2015
From the catalog with its great pictures that help engineer and design my project. To the helpfull attitude of employees and tech reps. It is of a design that I wish more companies would follow. Having had the opportunity to visit Speedway in Lincoln. I wish I lived closer I would apply for employment at Speedway.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Which rod ends do I need? My Vega pitman arm has a 5/8" hole, but I am using 37-48 ford steering arms, which take 7 deg tapered ends. I am using the 7 deg tapered ends for the tie rod from wheel to wheel. Can i use a 7 deg tapered end from the steering arm to a Spherical rod end on the pitman arm? I am wondering if both rod end types function the same way. As long as it fits the hole, it should work the same correct? I am trying to avoid drilling out the holes to accomidate 5/8" spherical rod ends. Thanks!

you can use a rod end like the pro-1 that has a 5/8 shank on one side and a hole with a 5/8 other side. part# rh175-0506 male ,,see speedway motors wed site!!!

If not wanting to drill out your tapered steering arm to 5/8” we have a solution. Order the correct length of drag link you need with the standard tapered tie rod ends such as 91632504 and this has 11/16” threaded tube. Then order the oversized heim end number 1750328 or 1750128 to go in place of one of the tie rod ends. The eye in the heim is for the 5/8” bolt as your pitman arm requires and the threaded shank is 11/16”.

These are sold as eye to eye lengths, not tube lengths. These can be adjusted a 1/4" shorter and up to 1/2" longer. You will need a custom length to get 33.5". If you order 30" the tube will actually measure 27".

This part is made of 7/8" OD raw steel tube. That along with the 5/8" Heim ends make it a very durable steering component. When you order be sure to measure the eye to eye distance with both steering spindle or knuckles in the straight ahead position to provide the most accurate measurement.
