What's in the Box

These tie rod or drag link kits are pre-cut and tapped lengths of 7⁄8" O.D. tubing available multiple lengths. Kits come complete with 11/16" traditional 7° tie rod ends and jam nuts. Tubing will be tapped with right-hand & left-hand threads for adjustability.

Select your length based on the center-to-center of the tie rod ends, which will also be the eye-to-eye distance between the steering arms (the acutal tube will be 3" shorter than length selected). At selected length, the link will be adjustable from 1/2" shorter to 3/4" longer.

weak

I don't know if it was my application, but when used on a 1969 D100. the first time i hit my brakes the rod bent . My application has the rod behind the straight axle. It might be OK on a light weight application. It did not work for me and left me stranded.
Pros:
  • inexspensive.
Cons:
  • weak materials
No, I would not recommend this product.

Looks good came painted

September 18, 2014
Part arrived in very good shape (Excelent packaging) and short shipping time. Only issue was one tie rod end had a nick in the threads. I was able to smooth it out with a small triangle file. Parts went together just fine after that. Price was competative with other venders. Over all very happy with this purchase.
Yes, I recommend this product.

HAVE USED BEFORE, GREAT AS ALWAYS

April 19, 2012
I HAVE A 40 FORD WITH A DROPPED FRONT AXLE. THE STOCK TIE ROD WAS A LITTLE SHORT AND LEFT THE TIE ROD ENDS HANGING OUT OF THE TIE ROD TOO MUCH FOR MY LIKING. I ORDERED THE 46 INCH KIT, WHICH WAS A LITTLE LONGER THAN I NEEDED. THE TIE ROD FROM SPEEDWAY WAS THREADED PLENTY DEEP ENOUGH THAT ALLOWED ME TO TRIM SOME OFF THE ENDS AND END UP WITH A TIE ROD THAT WAS THE EXACT LENGTH I DESIRED. GOOD JOB SPEEDWAY...........THANKS
Pros:
  • Easy To Use
Yes, I recommend this product.

You will need an 11/16" - 18 tap to rethread the tube if you cut it down. We offer them as part number 91281037.

Another length question An earlier question about length had to do with "is it tube length or center/center length listed in the length drop-down?", and it was clarified it is center/center, and that the tube is 3" shorter. My question is, are you measuring center/center with the tie-rods each threaded in mid-thread? In other words, what is the (min/max) range of the center/center dimension if you factor in the safe range of tie rod adjustment? +/- 4"?

the total adjustment is much less than 4". you give speedway the center-to-center distance and they select a tie-rod 3" shorter to insure that you have full thread engagement for safe use. of course the tie-rod is left hand & right hand threads which means you just turn the tie-rod to adjust toe-in, then lock it down with the large hex nuts.

The length can be adjusted up to a 1/2" shorter and 3/4" longer than the length listed.
