What's in the Box

These tie rod or drag link kits are pre-cut and tapped lengths of 7⁄8" O.D. tubing available multiple lengths. Kits come complete with 11/16" traditional 7° tie rod ends and jam nuts. Tubing will be tapped with right-hand & left-hand threads for adjustability.

Select your length based on the center-to-center of the tie rod ends, which will also be the eye-to-eye distance between the steering arms (the acutal tube will be 3" shorter than length selected). At selected length, the link will be adjustable from 1/2" shorter to 3/4" longer.

You will need an 11/16" - 18 tap to rethread the tube if you cut it down. We offer them as part number 91281037.

Another length question An earlier question about length had to do with "is it tube length or center/center length listed in the length drop-down?", and it was clarified it is center/center, and that the tube is 3" shorter. My question is, are you measuring center/center with the tie-rods each threaded in mid-thread? In other words, what is the (min/max) range of the center/center dimension if you factor in the safe range of tie rod adjustment? +/- 4"?

the total adjustment is much less than 4". you give speedway the center-to-center distance and they select a tie-rod 3" shorter to insure that you have full thread engagement for safe use. of course the tie-rod is left hand & right hand threads which means you just turn the tie-rod to adjust toe-in, then lock it down with the large hex nuts.

The length can be adjusted up to a 1/2" shorter and 3/4" longer than the length listed.

You will need to measure and calculate the taper. Measure the minor ID and the major ID as well as the length from the minor to the major ID. With that info you can calculate the taper angle. There are some calculators online so that you don't have to do the math yourself.

This kit uses tie rod ends 91002919 and 91002909. It has a 1 3/4" long tapered stud which is .63" OD. You will need to compare these specifications to your steering arms to be sure that it will work correctly. Also we offer reamer 91089411 if you need to modify your steering arms to accept the 7 degree taper of these tie rod ends.

Yes the ID of the tubing is correct to be able to simply thread it with an 11/16"-18 tap.
