These seem like an good way to mount a cross member if you want to remove it later. I am wondering what stops the cross member from rotating in the ends?

These cross member ends slip over the cross member tube and in severe cases could allow the engine to go forward or rearward as long as the other cross member had the same style ends. On drag vehicles, rock crawlers, circle track cars, and similar duty vehicles we recommend cutting the cross member the correct length and then welding on the triangular ends and bolting in place. This would eliminate any fore or aft movement of the drive train. Another option would be to drill through the ends and the cross member and installing a through bolt through all four sides to eliminate any possible rock in the cross member.

wanted to know if this crossmember will work in my 1946 chevy 1/2 ton, with a t-5 transmission, if so, it will save me a bunch of time and labor fabricating one

Use these bolt in cross member ends in conjunction with the desired engine cross member such as 91618012 or transmission cross member number 91628904 as just a couple of examples.
