The car seat is secured with the vehicle seat belt threaded thru the back of the car seat while the child is secured by a 5-point harness system. This foward facing 5-point harness system is designed for children 20-40 lbs and is certified for use in aircraft. As your child grows to reach 30-100 lbs, you can use this seat with your vehicle's combination lap and shoulder belt. The seat elevates your child so the shoulder belt can be positioned comfortably and securely. This restraint system is not aircraft certified because it does not incorporate the 5-point harness system.
