Early Flatheads had half the bellhousing cast onto the engine block and half of it cast onto the transmission case. If you need to bolt an early transmission to a later-style 8BA or Mercury engine, we’ve got you covered with this handy adapter!

The Ford block/transmission design change came after 1947, but Henry decided he wanted to use up all of the old-style transmissions. This adapter is just like the one Henry used back then.

This Flathead Ford V8 bellhousing adapter allows the use of early-style 8-bolt Flathead transmissions behind 1949-1953 car and 1948 and newer truck Flatheads. It requires the use of a starter mount plate from a 1948 and newer truck or 1949 and newer car, which Speedway does not carry.
