Q & A

What's in the Box

Offenhauser Triple Carburetor Chevy 194, 230, 250 and 292 intakes allow you to run a Big 6 without the hassles and cost of the GMC. Manifold provides a nostalgic appearance while equalizing fuel distribution to all cylinders, improving both performance and economy. With this lightweight cast aluminum manifold, your inline six will be more responsive across the RPM range.

Accepts three OEM (Rochester B or BC) 1-barrel carbs like the original on your 1963-1975 straight 6. Includes a "progressive" linkage kit and various tubing & fittings for plumbing fuel lines.

Notes

Note: This intake manifold is designed to bolt up to the heat box on your original exhaust manifold. Exhaust heat must be routed to the bottom of the intake to help keep the fuel droplets suspended in the air/fuel mixture, providing better cold weather performance and overall driveability.

If using split manifolds or exhaust headers, you must still supply heat to the bottom of intake using a heat box that you fabricate. This can be done by routing either exhaust heat or engine coolant to the bottom of the intake via copper or steel tubing.

Intake number 5605414 will fit the 230, 250, and the 292 inline six from 1963-75 and bolts to the original heat box on the exhaust manifold. It accepts the original one barrel carburetors from those engines which are referred to as a Rochester B or BC one barrel. Other carbs with same mount pattern could be used but the linkage will require modification to function properly.

This intake accepts three of the OEM Rochester B or BC one barrel carburetors or other brands and styles with the same mount pattern. If wanting to use a Weber carb you will need to verify mount pattern compatibility or it will require an adapter.

This intake accepts the stock 63-75 carburetors. Information calls mount centers of 2 5/8” center to center on the earlier intakes but we are currently out of stock on this later intake. You may want to check with Offenhauser direct to verify centers of mounting studs.

This manifold comes with a progressive linkage kit designed to work with the Rochester B or BC series one barrel carburetors. The installer will need to fabricate a link from the on vehicle accelerator lever to the supplied linkage.

Offenhauser 5417 Chevy 6-Cylinder Finned Valve Cover
(Part #5605417)

This polished Offenhauser finned aluminum valve cover will shine up your 194-230-250-292 Chevy 6-cylinder from 1962-1975.

  1. This cover has one hole for a filler/breather. We suggest Twist-In Breather 550-2061.
  2. There are no "baffles" and no hole for a PCV valve. You would have to make your own hole.
  3. May have clearance issues with oversize valve springs.
  4. Please note that the valve cover is not polished between the fins on the top and in the side recesses on both sides of the valve cover.
