What's in the Box

Melling pumps are known worldwide for their accuracy and quality. You have a lot money in your flathead, so make sure it is running a Melling pump. The HV pump (25% more volume) may require oil pan modifications (see Notes tab for details).

Fits Ford/Mercury 221, 239, and 255 V-8 (1932-1954).

Notes

  1. The HV pump is approx. 1-1/4" deeper than an OEM '49-'53 oil pump. The bottom of the pan will most likely require modification to accept this additional depth. If this pump is to be used '48-older block, you will also need our pick-up tube 910-16259.
  2. Pump measures 5-1/2" from mount surface to bottom of the pump.

When you spend big bucks rebuilding and modifying a vintage flathead V8, you don't want to take chances on its oiling system. The longer gears on our high-volume oil pump give it 25-percent greater flow, ensuring that your high-performance Flathead gets the lubrication it needs. The HV pump may require oil pan modifications (see Notes tab for details).

Flathead Ford V8 Oil Pump Pickup Tube
                        

This oil pump pick-up is a reproduction of those used in F-Series trucks. They are designed to be direct replacements in 1932-47 car oil pans and 1932-53 truck oil pans ONLY. When used on 1932-1948 Flatheads, installation of a newer style (1949-1953) oil pump like our Speedway and Melling pump is required.

Note: May require slight modification when used with high volume oil pumps.

Note: If used with 1949-53 Flathead Ford V8s, considerable modification to the oil pan will be necessary to work.  1949-53 Flatheads will require a "car" style oil pump pickup for a direct replacement version.
