What's in the Box

IMCAs 2004 rules now allow the stock car class to use spec tubular upper control arms. The stock arms are getting hard to find and dont have the strength of the tubular design. Bolts to your stock mount and accepts stock ball joints.  This control arm is going to have a 1/4" thick plate where the ball joint bolts in.  Mid-size GM metric only.

  • Tube diameter is 1"
  • Wall thickness is 0.092

Steel cross shaft.  Available for right (passenger side) or left (drivers side).

Right arm length is 8". Left arm length is 8.5". Cross shaft spacing center to center is 6-7/8".

Great Product for Vehicles with Headers

I have to use a metal bearing upper control arm because my headers will melt polyurethane. I had ordered a pair of these originally from a guy on ebay for a ridiculous price. What he doesn't tell you is what length he will sell you. (They are the 8.0" version) For a 3" (2" Spindle, 1" spring) lowered street driven 2003 S10 2X4: If you use the 8.5" version (Left upper control arm) for both sides, you will have to use a lot of shims. Took a guy 2.5hrs to shim mine. If you use the 8.0" version (Right upper control arm) for both sides, you will be limited on how well they can put a true alignment on the truck due to the limited space. (No such thing as anti-shims :-) ) Love the fact that these are metal bearing. However, standard road driving will eventually tear these apart. My original set lasted about 2.5yrs (50k miles). Note: Remove the zerk fittings and put on 1/4" 90 degree zerk fittings. This will allow you to grease easily. I do recommend these. Enjoy!

The ball joint hole in this control arm is 1 7/8" ID. Your ball joint with 1.83" diameter will slip right in. This is made for a standard replacement upper ball joint for a G body car which is our part number 91720045.

The part #200321 is not the bolt in balljoint for this arm as the IMCA spec upper Aarm for the metric car #20032. You could make the 200321 work but you would need to weld it in. Doing this would not be IMCA legal.

Yes these could be bolted on to your 86 Grand National. We do not recommend them for street use however. They have no bushings and will wear out fairly quickly at the pivot point. Once they wear out the control arm will need to be replaced. I would recommend two left sides (8.5” length) which are the stock length if you plan to use these.

The cross shaft mounting holes are spaced at 6-7/8" and so does the S10 chassis so they will fit. Left side has 8.5" ball joint to cross shaft spacing and right side has 8" ball joint to cross shaft spacing.

These will fit any of the GM "metric" chasis vehicles, which includes the S-10 chasis. You need 2 that are 8.5" long. Don't forget to use the tall ball joints at the same time to correct the camber curve issues.

These control arms are designed for circle track racing and are not DOT approved for street use. If application is street use then you will need to verify length of your OEM control arms and order two of the same length. Dimension is from center of cross shaft to center of ball joint. Another option that is available in more length options is part number 91034395 which utilize a screw in ball joint. Center to center of mount bolts is 6 7/8” on either arm mentioned.
