Nice looking mirrors

By petemcl from Northville, Michigan on 3/19/2012
Pros:
Durable, Good styling, Well polished
Cons:
Installation is no fun, Mirrors could be larger
Best Uses:
Fatfender trucks
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I bought these mirrors as the curved arms match the large curved fenders on my 1950 Ford F-2 pickup much better than the stock straight arm mirrors. Since I don't plan on towing anything these mirrors will work well. What they don't tell you is that getting the old hinge pins out of the upper door hinge is a very tough job (checkout the comments on FTE). I finally had to take my doors off and then drill out the rivets holding the hinge to the door. This despite soaking the hinges with every type of liquid known to man. After the hinge was removed and placed on a solid surface a big hammer and pointed punch worked their magic.

Mirror is beautiful, not exact fit

By T from Bumpass, Va on 4/6/2012
Pros:
Nice looks, Quality built
Cons:
No Fit 51 F1 correctly
Best Uses:
Great mirror
Bottom Line: Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

This was a beautiful Mirror, no doubt, but It does NOT fit a 51 Ford truck and allow you to use it as a Mirror. The upper door hinge has a hump, to get mirror at 90 degrees (to use effectively) had to grind this mirrors hinge attachment to fit around door hinge hump. NOTE: It 'would' fit without doing this but was so far forward I couldn't adj mirror to use, couldnt see the drivers rear of truck, mirror sat at 10 o'clock position instead of 9 o'clock. Easy to break bottom hinge attachment upon driving pin, do this carefully, 2 people made this safer (extra eyes on pin while I drove it home), as pin got closer, it bowed the bottom hinge, a slight rap with a wood stick pushed hinge back in place so pin fit. I had to make this mirror fit,(wanted to drive!) wasnt happy with grinding it, but I was NOT going to grind my hinge for a 30buck mirror either. It is a quality product no doubt, just fitting on this year vehicle won't happen without modification. (and dont worry it's not my truck thats the problem either). I used a sharp die grinder to do as my bench grinder just wont doing it, this of course caused the chrome to flake, but I hit it with some silver paint to hide. My truck is a Rat Rod right now so didnt really matter, but if it was Concours trailer perfect, I'd still use this mirror with modification. It looks sweet with it on there. For what it's worth. Happy Truckin! T
