As with any electric device such as solenoids, linear actuators, or electric gear driven lifts such as part number 91069275 a manual or mechanical backup is always recommended. In this case an access panel would be advised behind the seat in the bulkhead panel or possibly the floor of the trunk. On factory applications many electric releases or openers have a mechanical cable method such as a fuel door and others such as a trunk lid solenoid do not. In the latter case it sometimes turns into quite a job getting the trunk lid open.

This unit needs to be wired to a momentary switch like a single GM switch you would find in a power window unit or using one of our illuminated switch that has a up and down button like part number 910-64400- color that are offered in Red, Green, White, Orange, Blue, Yellow.

What do you do about the latch? I have an electric latch that must be activated to open the trunk. it also must be closed as you would a car door to latch the trunk fully closed.

This lift has capacity to push or pull 61 pounds. If using in conjunction with an electronic controlled latch the two would have to work together to avoid damage to either component. Concern would be if the lift would pull down sufficiently from one side to securely latch a center mounted latch assembly. Some customers are using these without any additional latch mechanism with success. Depending on the rigidity of the deck lid and latch mechanism the lid may need to receive some additional center force to successfully latch.
