In hot rodding anything is possible but unless building a rat rod the T bucket chassis 7151400 is not suited under a 41 Dodge pickup cab. At the cowl area the frame is 25.5” wide and the wheelbase is only 102”. Strength wise the T buckets weigh in around 1600 to1800 pounds on average and with a blown big block slightly more. If you get into the Model A chassis the frames are wider and built for heavier applications. It has been done and up to the builders choice and abilities.

This kit was certainly not built for 800 horse power. You may want to build a custom frame and suspension to support the power.

Thickness of the 1 1/2X3 frame rail I have a 23 Deluxe T and I purchased a set of Shot gun headers and I am looking at some way to put header bracket on it. I am wondering if the metal is thick enough to tap for 1/4 or 5/16 bolts. If not do you sell thread serts or do you have a bracket kit that doesn't involve welding.

You could use a self tapping screw like a sheet metal screw or something similar but the frame material is not thick enough to tap threads for a 1/4" or 5/16" bolt. You will have to use a thread insert like you mentioned. Sorry I do not offer thread inserts.

No this frame does not come with engine or transmission mounts. We can add the mounts for a SBC and TH350 transmission by adding option number 715500 when placing the order for the frame kit.

Speedway was requested for years to offer a more complete chassis package comparable to our competitors and we now offer the Budget ’23, Nostalgia ’23, Deluxe ’23, and Deluxe ’27. They are sold as listed and major substitutions are simply not allowed. If we want to vary suspension and axle components then the route to take would be the basic frame along with all the parts preferred by the customer and assembled by the customer. Part number 7151400 comes with a tube axle for Chevy spindles and a drilled I beam cannot be substituted as the four bar brackets referred to as Batwings are not manufactured to accept the spring pivot for a spring behind application. Other changes would also be required and for further details you may want to call Speedway and visit with a street rod tech. The Tribute T is a one of a kind kit and the front end is specific to this chassis. Steering arms along with traditional steering make using this kit on a standard chassis not a simple bolt on application. Again, for further details you may want to confer with a rod tech at Speedway Motors.

Speedway’s T bucket chassis’ all come with a spring behind axle configuration. Currently we do not offer the chassis kits with an I beam or drilled I beam option. The I beam axles are currently offered in a spring over set up only and cannot be substituted into the T bucket chassis kits as we don’t offer a hairpin/radius rod or four bar bracket that has the third hole for attachment of the spring pivot.

Part # 7151400 Frame width outside to outside at front of body is 251/2” and at the rear of the body at the frame kick up is 28”.

The triangulated 4 bar suspension on a Deluxe T kit can not be welded to a Winters quick change. This is due to the location of the upper control arms of the suspension. If you opt for the Nostalgia T kit then the brackets for the rear suspension of this kit can be welded to the tubes of a quick change rear end.. We would do this at no extra charge when ordering the Nostalgia T kit and a Winters quick change.

Small Block Ford and C4 Auto Trans Mount Option for T Frame Kit

This T-frame option will include tubular engine and transmission crossmembers welded into your '23 or '27 T-Bucket chassis. Will accept S/B Ford engine and C-4 transmission only.

Note: When ordering this option with a T-Bucket frame kit, the frame will be shipped with these crossmembers welded to it.  As such, this engine/transmission crossmember option must be ordered with a T Frame kit. This is not available separate of a T frame kit.

  • When this item is ordered with a T-Bucket frame kit, the frame will be shipped with these crossmembers welded to it.  
  • Due to clearance issue with the Vega steering box, you will need to either remote mount the oil filter or make use of the 90 degree oil filter adaptor # 910-6880.
