No this camshaft will not fit your V6. This is a SBC V8 camshaft. Sorry we do not offer a camshaft for your application.

The Comp Cams Thumper cams part #282-126014 is intended to be used on a flat tappet pre roller camshaft motors from 1955 to 1986. In order to use this cam shaft you would need to change to early style timing chain, push rods, valve springs and hydraulic lifters. The stock thrust plate will not be used also.

Cam number 282126014 would fit and work in your truck but to make it driver friendly you would also need a higher stall converter if an automatic such as a 2500 stall, low rear end gears such as 4:10 to one, headers, and at least a 9 to 1 compression ratio.

Is this a small base circle cut cam such as that which is necessary in a 383 stroker small block Chevy ? If not ,is there a cam this same design available for the stroker that's cut on the small base circle?

This is not a small base circle cam but with the small amount of lift (under .500" lift) you typically shouldn't need a small base circle for a 383 engine. You will need to check clearance between the connecting rods and camshaft and clearance as necessary. Many aftermarket rods are "stroker clearanced" to provide additional clearance.

When building a stroker motor you will need to check the clearance of the connecting rods to the camshaft during a pre-assembly clearancing process. This will entail installing the crank into the block, as well as the cam and timing chain. Then a piston and rod will need to be installed into every cylinder and clearance the block as well as the checking for clearance around the rod while turning the crankshaft. Cam to rod clearance will need to be checked. Sorry we are not able to answer if it will have to be clearanced or not. That rod will clear in some installations and others it will require some clearancing to miss the camshaft.
