What's in the Box

Info

There's a lot riding on your springs-literally. Springs are your car's connection to the ground, and their performance is directly related to all other suspension components. Inconsistent, weak springs can cause a multitude of handling problems , and, in some cases, dangerous situations. When it comes to choosing coil springs, there are many alternatives, but if you want the best you can get, the choice is clear: CHOOSE AFCOILS.

All AFCOILS carry a lifetime warranty to remain within 2% of the original nominal free height. Choose your rate.

Fits 1973-1983 Chevelle/Malibu; 1973-1988 Monte Carlo, Cutlass, Regal, and Grand Prix.

  • Coil spring is machine-ground on both ends to tolerances within 1 degree and then pressed to solid height and "pre-set" to eliminate any potential for additional set
  • Optimized material thickness and coil spacing to achieve the best possible design for each rate and height of spring in the product line
  • Super-high tensile strength chrome silicon wire for long life and and a consistent rate
  • Springs are cold wound on the latest automated coiling equipment and heat treated twice during manufacturing to withstand the most abusive conditions
  • To enhance durability, AFCOILS are shot-peened and coated with a durable finish

Notes

  • Black finish to be stock appearing
  • Designed for use with intermediate rear suspensions
  • One pigtail end, one flat ground end

I will only use afco springs on my car

April 24, 2010
I run a street stock at Bridgeport Speedway in NJ. I found that afco springs are the best bang for the buck. Their spring ratings are TRUE and not just close.
Yes, I recommend this product.

This spring will lower your car around 1" when using a 200 pound rate. The exact amount of drop can vary depending upon the condition of your current springs as well as the suspension options that your car was built with originally.

These springs can be used for your 1978 Impala, however they are not exactly the same configuration as stock. To get a spring that is very similar to your stock spring I would recommend part number 252-514 which is 14” tall and has a small pig tail on both ends. It is available in a variety of spring rates up to 300 lb.

I would not suggest this spring for your application since it is shorter than stock and the top side is not a pigtail configuration like your stock springs. Our part number 252514 are much closer to stock height and have the pigtail on both ends, but still may lower your car some. You could try 200, 225, or 250 spring rate to stiffen the rear spring rate. Stock springs are typically close to 175 lb on the rear of those cars but each car and suspension package varies.
