What's in the Box

Six different bore sizes and four different installation configurations are available in this master cylinder kit. Precision machined from high strength aluminum, this kit includes both small and large size reservoirs which can be mounted for more convenient service access. Standard mounting bolt hole configurations provide easy applications for racing and off road vehicles, specialty cars, recreation and industrial vehicles.

Bore sizes available include: 5/8", 3/4", 7/8", 13/16", 1", 1-1/8".

i purchased this to use as a clutch master and for its remote resevoir.[...]. I ended up using a diff unit w/ 1 5/8" travel as this one only had 1 1/4" travel. The white plastic resevoirs looked cheap on my firewall is second reason I went back to origional unit.

The flexable design of this M/C really gives the installer a lot of options. It was perfect for the clutch on my roadster where I wanted to put the M/C under the floor. Great unit!

To get the full 1.2" of stroke from the slave cylinder 91025605 you would need a 7/8" bore master cylinder. If you do not need the full amount of stroke then the 3/4" bore master cylinder would make the clutch pedal easier to push.

If running a single brake Speedway offers part #8352605520 that is a 1/2" bore master cylinder. If running dual calipers a 5/8" bore would be recommended. The bore is the size cylinder and will determine how much fluid is moved when compressed. To measure you would need to take master cylinder appart.

This master cylinder is not designed to work in conjunction with a brake booster. Several factors would need to be addressed including mounting pattern and the machining of a slug to convert the piston to a shallow dish instead of a deep bore. Wilwood does offer part number 8352608555 with conventional horizontal mounting pattern and can be used with manual or power brakes.

Part number 70174 Master cylinder bore size for non boosted applications normally is limited to 1” bore with standard pedal ratios of 6 or 7 to 1. The greater the bore size the more pedal pressure required to obtain the same psi at the calipers. If there is greater pedal ratio available a 1 1/8” bore size may be used on 4 wheel disc applications. PSI at the calipers will need to be 1200-1300 in order to achieve satisfactory stopping power.

That master cylinder was not designed to be mounted that way and would probably not work right in the vertical position. I would contact Wilwood and ask them if it would work properly when mounted vertically.

Part # 70174 This master cylinder could be used for clutch applications and needs to be sized per the hydraulic throw out bearing or slave cylinder recommendations. We also offer part number 8352601304 which is ¾” bore and works with many hydraulic throw out bearings and some slave cylinders. In ¾ bore it would work fine with our throw out bearing number 91025610 and the necessary lines for your application.

EXP 600 Plus is a highly refined blend developed for extreme performance under the high heat and extreme pressure of professional motorsports. EXP 600 Plus has been tested to 626° F with a wet boiling point of 417° F. These numbers far exceed any DOT or SAE specifications. 

It is true that racing brake fluids need to have high boiling points. It is also true that fluids need to have low moisture affinity to slow the natural absorption rate of water vapor. But the true test of any high temp brake fluid is how well it resists aeration and compressibility after it has been heated and pressure cycled a few hundred times. The real test is at the track.
