What's in the Box

Info

These wide 5 wheel adapters are 3/8" steel with 5/8" UNF studs. Adapts your "early modified" wheels to todays more popular bolt patterns.

Must use spacer with drum brake. The bolt heads on the back side of the adapter do not sit flush, contacting the brake drum. The thickness of the spacer would depend on the specific brake drum being used, but the 1/4" 916-58210 or 3/8" 916-58212 should work for many applications. Both of these spacers would work on the 916-58250.

excellent wheel adapter

April 01, 2016
I am using these adapters on my 37 Ford. They accept the stock 16" rims (aka artillery wheel) and can be installed on more traditional rear ends, mine is a Ford 9". These adapters are very heavy duty. FYI, I did have a minor clearance problem with the disc brakes scraping on the stud bolt heads, but that is my doing, not any fault of the adapters. I used a couple washers to offset the adapter a bit.
Pros:
  • Studs Are High Quality
  • Very Heavy Duty
  • Dual Hole Patterns
Yes, I recommend this product.

Wide 5 Adapter

July 02, 2015
I purchased this so I could have my wide 5 wheels and tires balanced for use on my street rod...building to resemble a 60's era modified coupe. I do wish the ad reminded me that I needed to purchase the lug nuts, which I am doing today. Not the fault of the product however, just thought they might have been included.
Yes, I recommend this product.

'36-'38 Ford Wheel Balance Adapter

May 21, 2015
We will use this adapter to balance Ford wheels with the 9.75 bolt pattern. No one is able to balance these wheels with the modern wheel balancers. When we spun the adapter up on a wheel balancer it came in at zero weights required; it was already in balance. You must buy the lug nuts shown in the catalog because they are 5/8" and your car lugs will not fit.
Pros:
  • Zero Balance
  • Good Fit
Cons:
  • Oversize Lug Bolts
Yes, I recommend this product.

The WIDE 5 ADPTR 5-4.5" & 5-5in, part number: 91658250, are designed to adapt a 5 on 5" or 5 on 4 1/2" rear ends to a 10.8" bolt circle with a 3.107 dia. center opening. 1/4" or 3/8" spacers, part number: 91658210 or part number: 91658212, must be used with drum brakes due to bolt heads extending on back side. If your Model A has a bolt pattern and center opening agreeable with the above, then the adapters will work.

Part number 91658250 This adapter is available for the GM 5 on 4 ¾ pattern to the wide 5 under part number 91658251 which would require a spacer either ¼” or 3/8” thick under numbers 91558210 or 91658212. This wide 5 is 10 1/8” bolt pattern which is outside of one stud, skip one stud, and to the center of the next stud. If you are trying to run your pickup wheels on the GM rear end you will need 4 ¾” hub to 5 on 5” bolt circle you will need adapter number 7203612.

This adapter is intended to allow the use of an old Ford wide 5 wheel on a vehicle that has 5 on 4 1/2" or 5 on 5" bolt pattern. The spacers are sold separately if you need those for clearance to your brake drums.

I have a stock '37 Ford with the wide-five 16" x 4" wheels. I am having difficulty finding a tire shop that can balance my wide-five wheels because they don't have any adapters for these wheels. Will this adapter provide the ability to spin balance these wheels on a modern spin balancer machine? It appears this adapter might solve the problem. Thanks.

Yes this adapter would be a good solution to your issue. I would have them spin the adapter by itself first and get it balanced perfectly before you bolt your wheels on to balance them. To balance this adapter you can just drill holes where material needs to be removed (the opposite side of where weight needs added).

No, this will not allow you to bolt a 5 on 5" wheel to a wide 5 hub. You will need to change your hubs to a 5 on 5" hub.
