What's in the Box

Info

One size fits all! Fits any inner axle tube with an I.D. between 2-1/2" and 2-3/4". This eliminates ordering the wrong seal and allows you to always have the correct seal on hand. Typical applications* include Ford 9”, Quick change type rears, and 12 bolt GM. All seals are supplied with general installation guidelines.
  • Inner Axle Seal I.D. = 7/8"
  • Axle sizes/Splines:  1-3/16” thru 1-1/2” / 28-31

 

* Applications are reference only. Seals may be used on any rear end that is within the part number’s dimensional range. Rears can vary within a single model year and within the same model. Measure listed parameters before ordering.

Great to maintain axles in right position when change gear ratio on my ford 9 inches, outer seal stay straight, and no way the diff oil will pass throw inner universal seal and standard outer seal, i will buy again and recommend it.

Seals right against axle. Kind of messy due to the silicone when inserting the seals into the axle tubes.

I got this seal because it is universal and cheaper, but it was a mess to install because you have to use a bunch of silicone on it. They seem to work ok.

Received excellent support from manufacturer. This was a great application for my older 8" Ford rear end. It fit very tight and after changing gears no oil got past the seal as before.

Simple but use 'Gear Oil' RTV to seal.

Push the seal into the axle tube so that it is about 1/4" past flush with the end of the tube.

The carrier unit can be removed without the pinion but if changing the gear ratio the pinion will likely need to be checked for depth in the ring gear and shimmed accordingly. This is critical for longevity of the gear set.

No this seal is installed only when the center section is removed from the rear housing and then installed from inside the rear housing.

For circle track applications we suggest 4 quarts of oil be used in 9" Ford rear ends with or without inner axle seals.

Yes this will prevent the center section from breathing if your breather is installed in the axle tube. You will need to relocate the breather to the center section.

That is a bit of a preference. The right side is the most needed but personally I prefer to have inner axle seals in both sides so that gear oil never gets into the axle tubes or hubs making maintenance cleaner and easier.
