What's in the Box

This rack & pinion conversion kit from Unisteer will give your 1968-1972 Chevelle the ease of steering and road feel modern cars have. Precisely engineered to bolt in without sacrificing steering geometry or safety.

Kit includes the power rack, mounting bracket, power steering pump kit with a clip-on resevoir for a long water pump, and steering shaft kit designed for a factory steering column as well as all the necessary hardware to complete the installation. The kit features a black powder coated heavy-duty bracket that eliminates any twisting or flexing present in other kits.

  1. Includes a compact power steering pump with reservoir, lower block mounting bracket and braided stainless hose kit to go from the pump to the rack. The pump does have a billet pulley for short water pump application.

Although some of this kit will work on your Olds 442 the power steering bracket and adjuster is for the Chevy V8 engine. Sorry I do not carry the correct kit for your 1970 Oldsmobile 442.

Speedway part number 91032309. This Unisteer rack and pinion for the 68-72 Chevelle should work fine with a Big block , or a Small block. You will have extra clearance where the steering shaft goes along the headers with a Small block.

I am using a march serpentine conversion kit. it looks like the pump with the kit wont mount to that kit. Can I use a stock style P/S pump with the rack?

You are correct, that pump will most likely NOT work with your March serpentine belt setup. You should be able to run a stock style pump with this rack, and that will allow the use of your March setup. I would recommend that you call Unisteer and verify that before you order this kit. Most GM pumps flow 3 gallons per minute, I am unsure what this rack requires.

Sorry this is a pre-packaged kit from Unisteer so we are not able to remove the pump from the kit. As long as the LS is in stock V8 location and the front drive for accessories is in same as OEM location the rack would work.
