What's in the Box

Achieve a smoother, more comfortable ride with Speedway Super Glide™ T-bucket front leaf springs. The ends of the spring leaves of a Super Glide™ spring have a unique nylon button which works as a dry lubricant to significantly reduce leaf-to-leaf friction. This allows the spring to move more easily, thereby giving a softer, quieter ride.

Four-leaf design with standard spring eyes and a bare steel finish.

  • looks good and nice ride
Cons:
  • none that i have found so far
Yes, I recommend this product.

Merchant Response:

Speedway Motors Customer Service team has issued a set of replacement bushings to this customer since purchase of the leaf spring. Please note that none of the leaf springs Speedway Motors sells are provided with shackle bushings, as they can be purchased separately or via the shackles, as all of the new shackles are provided with corresponding new bushings. We apologize any confusion or frustration this may have caused.

Spring rate

January 27, 2011
Bought this spring as part of a complete 4 bar, spring behind, tube axle package. Measured the spring rate and it works ok with an iron bbc. The spring compresses 1.65" with a 1000 lb load.
Pros:
  • 605lbin spring rate
  • Nylon leaf sliders
Yes, I recommend this product.

If you only need an inch or less of lift I would use a spacer. If you need more I would suggest either a different perch or spring pivot location. Adding leaves will stiffen the ride.

The super glide T bucket spring if correctly rated for the weight of your car should have the shackles at approximately a 45 degree angle. If this is correct then the best way to raise the ride height is with a spacer or spacers. The 45 degree angle allows for proper suspension travel and if they are more straight down then adding a leaf to the spring would be suggested.

We apologize for the inconvenience but currently a 32” eye to eye is not available. Your existing spring may have flattened out increasing the length and we suggest measuring between the shackles when they are horizontal or parallel to the ground. It is common to require spreading of the spring slightly in order to install on the shackles and we do have the 31 ¼” spring available in the Speedway version under part number 91033029.

Can this be substituted for the springs that come with item#9103944 at the same cost? Can these be used for a 1959 Morris Minor with a small block chevy along with item #9103944, instead of the standard 31" springs that come with this kit? Has anyone else used this 44" axle kit on a Morris Minor?

The shorter 26” springs or the 29” springs can be substituted into the gasser axle front end kits at no additional cost. The 44” axle nets 52 ¼” hub face to hub face with the disc brakes to compare with your wheel and tire choice and fit under your 59 Morris.

I am building a custom frame and wanted to know the outside width of the frame rails and radius arm width you use this spring with. It will be a spring behind/"suicide" set up . I plan to you your short perches and shackles if that helps. My outside width

Frame width can be anywhere between 23 and 26 inches. The location of the batwings is more important. My batwings are 32 inches apart if that helps. Your shackles should be at a 45 degree angle with weight on the spring to prevent the axle from shifting side to side in turns. my frame is 26 inches wide.

The Plain Leaf Spring - Standard Eye - 26" Eye-to-Eye, Item #: 91033026 is the spring we use on our T-Bucket kits, with the frame width of 23-1/2 inches in the front and 28-3/4 inches in the rear. The axle width measured between the brackets for the radius rods and the spring is 31 inches. We recommend that you call our toll free number, and ask for a Street Rod Tech to discuss your meaning of "short perches" and shackles.

Stainless Steel Spring Clamps, 1-3/4 Inch Wide Leaf Spring
(Part #91033201)

Stainless steel spring clamps to keep your front cross spring in alignment. Works with all brands of leaf springs.

To determine which spring clamp will fit your application, use a tape measure, ruler or caliper to measure the width of the main spring leaf (not length of leaf or leaf thickness) and order the spring clamps for that width. Most early Ford coupes and roadsters (and universal aftermarket replacement front ends for these types of vehicles) use a 1-3/4" wide spring.

  • Stainless steel
  • Hex head - 7/16" Wrench
  • 1/4"-10 thread pitch
  • Under-head bolt length - 2.45" long
  • For 1-3/4" wide leaf spring
  • Works with all brands of leaf springs
