Q & A

What's in the Box

Super Glide™ quarter elliptic springs feature a five leaf, 1-3/4" wide spring design. The ends of the spring leaves of a Super Glide™ spring have a unique nylon insert. This insert works as a dry lubricant, significantly reducing leaf-to-leaf friction. This reduction of friction lets the spring move more easily, thereby giving a smoother, quieter ride.

  • 1-3/4" wide
  • 20" long
  • Sold each, two required

Product Rating

Surprising strength with a smooth ride.

October 15, 2014
This was my first encounter with quarter elliptical springs, and I was pleasantly surprised at the ease of installation and the amount of weight that they can handle. Nice smooth action in the spring makes for a really nice ride.
Cons:
  • should come with bushings in both ends.
Yes, I recommend this product.

if springs are to sriff could leafs be removed to soften them? Looking at these springs for a light weight street rod with a mid mounted 2.3 4 cylinder.Vehicle overall weight is 1700 lbs.don't have room for coil overs but think I could bet these mounted below frame rails and maintain ride height but would be concerned about a harsh ride

On a 1700 pound vehicle you will definitely have to remove a leaf or more to get a comfortable ride. The number of leaves you will need to remove is up to personal preference for ride quality.

when you say 1450 pounds for weight limit..do you mean total vehicle weight?or the weight that would be actually on the front springs

The weight rating would be for the front end suspended weight and not the entire vehicle weight. These are a heavy duty set and will handle the front end weight of most hot rods weighing up to 2800-3000 pounds total weight

What is the spring rate on these? How much will these deflect on the front of a Chevy 350 powered Model A Ford? 2000-2500 lbs total weight. Trying to figure out how to mount these with appropriate 45* shackle angle when finished.

The manufacturer does not list a specific spring rate and testing a quarter elliptic is not a simple process without construction of specific fixtures. These springs are used on our Low-Boy with overall weight in the 2200 pound range for comparison to your needs. Depending on your front end weight these springs are normally for rear applications and may possibly be too light a rate. Our shop suggested a spring rate in the 225-250 range for these springs.

The arch of this spring is 3/4" as measure from the center line of the eyes to the bottom of the main leaf. Also the arch measures 2 1/8" from the center line of the eyes to the top of the leaf stack.
