Speedway Motors now offers a reproduction version of one of the most popular carburetors ever used, the original Stromberg 97! Original equipment on '30s and '40s cars and trucks, the Stromberg 97 has long been favored by flathead hot rodders and racers who realized the performance qualities of this timeless fuel supplier.

There have been numerous attempts to reproduce this unit, with little success. "Speedy" Bill Smith of Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Nebraska, took on the challenge to make a great product even better. The 9 Super 7 ® Carb brings this reproduction of the original Stromberg 97 2 barrel carb into the 21st Century!

Speedway Motors has incorporated all of the improvements shown above while maintaining the carburetor's original look. Features such as the choke assembly, accelerator pump, main jets and cosmetics have all been faithfully retained. Additionally, each carburetor is individually flow tested and inspected for leaks. Perfection is the result! 

Aesthetically, the 9Super7 is nearly identical to the stock unit, minus the large 97 logo that appeared on the side and the patent numbers found on the float bowl area. Upgraded internal parts include; the float, needle, and seat. Jetting and power valve settings remain as they were for the original 97 carbs as well as the cfm and vacuum specs.

The other similarity that the 9 Super 7 shares with the original 97 is the setup and tuning necessary to yield a well-running machine. While perhaps not as simple as bolting on a single four-barrel, the 9 Super 7 makes setting up a multiple carburetor induction system easier than when Strombergs were available new. All that's required is an intake, a linkage system, a Uni-Syn syncing tool, and a little patience. Be sure to include the Secondary 9 Super 7 when installing multi-carb setups.   4. The 9 Super 7 ® will operate suitably with fuel pressures ranging from 1-1/2 psi to 4 psi, with a desired setting of 2-1/2 psi to 3 psi. Fuel pressure from 4 psi to 7 psi will cause the carburetor to run excessively rich and may cause flooding. Flooding or leaks caused by excessive fuel pressure do not indicate a faulty carburetor.
  5. There are no provisions for a vacuum advance line. Ford & Mercury engines 1949-1953 using stock distributors will need an alternative place to connect the vacuum line.

If you have more than one carb on your hot rod, you need one of these "Uni-Syn" carb synchronizing tools. Just set on the top of your carb and adjust until all the carbs in your tri-power three deuce set-up read the same. 

Works well on small one barrel and two barrel carbs (downdraft or side-draft). Fits carb necks from 1-3/8" up to 3".

3-Carb Progressive Throttle Linkage
                        

Three-carb progressive linkage for Ford/Holley 94's and Stromberg 97's. It can be modified to work with other 2G Rochester applications, however the arms must be drilled for the larger diameter shafts.

Maximum center to center of long shaft is 11-3/8" and maximum of short shaft is 7". Linkage can be used for either two 2 bbl or three 2 bbl applications.

                        This Offy 3x2 tri power manifold is designed for Stromberg 97 carbs ONLY. Manifold has 4-5/8" carb centers.  The front of the intake manifold has the  boss or flange for the generator or fan assembly to mount to. It also  has the fill and draft holes behind this flange.

Edelbrock 1103 1938-48 Ford/Mercury Flathead Slingshot Manifold, Two Carb
                        

Edelbrock has decided to re-release this legendary manifold; giving a new generation a chance to own this historic benchmark. Using a pair of two barrel carburetors mounted in a "Y" configuration, this manifold unlocked the potential of Ford's versatile flathead platform for thousands of enthusiasts across the country. The Slingshot manifold is designed for use with 1938-48 style Flatheads, some late model blocks can be modified to work with these heads. It works with standard three bolt Stromberg, Holley and Demon carburetors and allows for the use of a period correct generator mounted in the stock location. 7-3/4" tall. 

This is a reproduction of the original intake manifold designed by Vic Edelbrock Sr. in 1938. The Slingshot is a real show stopper and even includes stainless acorn nuts for mounting the two halves.  Among the first ever hot rod parts, the famous Edelbrock Slingshot still ranks among the best flathead intakes out there. The Slingshot produces more peak torque than the competitors two carb intakes, as well as more overall average power and torque. The ’38-vintage, two-piece Slingshot more than holds its own even today. If you want a high-rise, Edelbrock’s design is far superior. Includes assembly hardware and gasket #8700.

1932-48 Offenhauser Dual Intake Manifold -

Said to be its most popular flathead intake, Offenhauser’s 2x2 Regular intake has closely spaced carbs that will clear the stock generator. The Offy regular dual intake accepts two 3-bolt carbs. Great addition to a street oriented engine. Has 4-3/4" carb centers.

Has room for generator in stock location, but generally requires an offset bracket. If using a GM alternator, use our chrome 916-67909 or plain 916-67910 bracket.
