This transmission is a Ford AOD that will bolt up to your 5.0 but you will also need the 164 tooth flex plate and the block plate number 91029012 for proper converter engagement. Length and bolt up to your 63 Meteor is questionable. Sorry we do not have experience with that swap.

1977 F100 2WD What additional parts will I need to install this in my 1977 F100? Engine is a 302 with mild build (0.448/0.448, 208@0.050") cam, 4bbl vacuum secondary, headers, HEI w/ multi-spark and 9.3:1 CR. Can the AOD be ordered with a different stall speed converter? Current rear gears are the stock Dana 44 3.07 set, but plan on changing to a 3.54 or 3.73 set. I expect the driveshaft will have to be shortened, and possibly a new front yoke.

To install the Street King AOD transmission you will need a factory block plate of .060" thickness or our Speedway 91029012 block plate. You will also need a 164 tooth flexplate that will accept a 12” converter, correct yoke for the output shaft, drive shaft length change if necessary, fluid, and the lines or alteration of the current cooler lines if available, and a shifter change to the AOD. We apologize but currently do not offer the 164 tooth flexplate.

Will this AOD work with the 351 C engine? I would like to install an AOD transmission behind my 351C Ford engine. I know both the 289/302/351W have the same bolt pattern as a 351 C. Are there other differences that would keep this swap from happening? I would be replacing a C-6 Ford transmission.

You can use the AOD on your 351c as it shares the same block mounting, however with this transmission # 57453103 you must either use a '65 and up original block plate or our block plate number 91029012 or internal damage may occur. It also requires a 164 tooth flexplate for the 12” converter.

The AOD conversion from a C-4 Transmission is a great upgrade for you performance minded Ford vehicle. It would be up to the installer to determine if your drive shaft length will work as the C-4 and AOD transmission both used multiple tail housing lengths depending on vehicle applications they originated from. You may have to use a transmission yoke from an AOD or modify the C-4 yoke to fit the AOD. The swap will require a 164-tooth flex plate (NOT included). This transmission must be used with either an original 1965-Up 289/302/351W engine block plate or our 910-29012 block plate. Failure to install this plate may cause damage to transmission due to inadequate clearance between converter and front pump.

You will need an early block plate or our aftermarket block plate to space the transmission back for correct converter spacing, a 164 tooth flex plate to accept the 12” converter, hook up with the T/V cable as referenced in the included instructions or the instructions on our website to the throttle linkage, and at the rear the appropriate slip yoke to match the AOD splines and dimensions.

From what I have found the 255 is a windsor based block and should work with our block kit and yoke and since the some of the fairmounts came from the factory with the 302 in it should work in the Fairmount. The case on this transmission is for a 164 tooth flex plate.

While the combination you suggest sounds appealing, we have almost no parts for that configuration. Our transmission will bolt to your engine of course, but you will need to adapt or source the shift linkage, driveshaft yoke, cooler lines, mount, etc. from places of your own choosing. The transmission will have a shaft extending out the drivers’ side, but that’s about it. I suggest that you consult a magazine that caters to the classic Mustangs (such as Mustang Monthly) as those enthusiasts have a vehicle that is mechanically similar to yours and will be more likely to have developed the parts for your type of update.
