Good concept but..

March 06, 2012
The only thing I ended up using from the actual kit was the housing spacer and the lengthened bolts, otherwise I got my own fittings to make the hose routing a bit more smooth. The Push lock fittings on the hose were junk.. the fittings pulled apart when barely snug. Had to have new hoses made with higher quality fittings.
No, I would not recommend this product.

Worth every penny.

Installed this on our street stock car with cast heads and it helped to reduce coolant temp and hot spots. We had to buy 90 degree fittings due to our intake, other than that the kit came with everything needed. Would def recommend this product.
Yes, I recommend this product.

You will need to drill and tap your intake manifold at the rear water port location in order to use this kit. Some intake manifolds such as a 3252925 have these water ports made into it.

These lines get plumbed into center of cylinder heads. If you do not have center hole for water you can also plumb into rear port of intake or drill and tap into water passage of intake. This will work with Vortec haeds also

If intake does not have water passage ports you will need to locate. Take valve cover off and you should be able to locate where water passage is. I do reccomend removing before drilling intake to be safe from getting metal shavings in motor.

These plumb into center of head at cross over area. If using cast iron heads, plumb at back of intake at rear water passages.

To make this work with a thermostat you will need to have cooling unit plate machined to accept thermostat or run water line to radiator instead of cooling plate

Does this do any good if it is only plumbed to the manifold (not to the head)?

This unit is intended for the head but if you have ports in back of manifold they will meet up with a water jacket. To say if one is more effective than the other I would lean towards head as it will not have to travel through the intake.
