These high-pressure gas shocks are designed for front or rear axle use. They come complete with 1/2" rubber bushings.
(Same as Pete and Jake's 1084) For chrome shock version see the Pro 582-SM500.
Worked perfectly on the front of my T-Bucket
Great delivery as allways
These are great shocks for the front of traditional hotrods, and many custom uses as well. The only con is that you never know if they are going to be white or black.
I needed basic shocks for the front of my Model A coupe project, these fit the bill. Wasn't looking for anything flashy. They have a 5/8" dia. hole on both ends or you can use the metal shims to shim down to 1/2" dia.
I replaced my old friction shocks with the Speedway short shocks on my 1947 Ford Pickup. They were the easiest to work with, just welded mounts on my rear end and a mounting stud off of the rails. My ride is greatly improved.
[...] fits like a glove.

Can you fit any of the coil over kits to this shock?
Asked on 3/25/2011 3:12:41 AM by bt from Florida
These shocks are not designed to be used as a coilover shock as their is no previsions to hold the adjuster ring on to the shock. If you need a coilover shock you can use p/n 2552254, this is a Carrea shock that will accept our coilover mounting kit p/n 2551951. This shock and coilover mounting kit is also available in a complete kit, p/n 2552254X.

I have a fatman II front end running air bags and will also be mounting shock absorbers. Would these be recommended for use on IFS?

These shocks (part number 91046221) can certainly be used on an IFS setup. They are a 50/50 shock and have a 9 1/2" compressed length and a 14 1/4" extended length. They can be used with 1/2" or 5/8" bolts.

Will these fit on a 1990 camaro?
Asked on 7/23/2011 1:24:22 PM by JT from Costa Mesa, CA
These short gas shocks have a multitude of uses including hot rods and custom builds. Compressed measure 9 ½” eye to eye and extended 14 ¼”. The mount length at ride height of vehicle would need to be approximately 12” to allow 50% of stroke for compression during suspension travel.

I am in the process of setting up the distance between supports for the shocks. Is it correct to say that the correct installed length would be to add 50% of the difference between the compressed length and the extended length to the compressed length?
Asked on 8/11/2011 11:32:00 AM by JT from Costa Mesa, CA
Manufacturers suggested ride height or mount length varies slightly per application. We suggest allowing 50-60% of the stroke for compression for maximum shock life.
