Q & A

What's in the Box

Ever had problems with a spongy pedal or slow, unresponsive brakes? If so, you may need a residual pressure valve installed in your brake line. A residual valve acts like a one-way or check valve to maintain brake system pressure to eliminate the problems of a spongy pedal. This 2 PSI residual valve is installed inline between the master cylinder and disc brake calipers to keep 2 PSI of residual pressure at the caliper after the brake pedal is released. This ensures that you will have a high, firm pedal next time you press the brake pedal.

If your master cylinder is located below the floorboard, installing a 2 PSI residual valve is highly recommended. If your master cylinder is mounted on the firewall, a residual valve is generally not needed because gravity will provide a natural residual pressure within the brake line.

Our residual pressure valve features a distinctive purple anodized finish with 1/8" NPT port at each end. Use 2 PSI residual valves for disc brake applications only.  Inverted flare or AN threaded adapter fittings to the 1/8" NPT female thread will be required and are noted below and available as required.

No theses have 1/8" pipe threads not inverted flare.

No this will not screw into that master cylinder. Usually a steel brake line will be used at the master cylinder outlet, then you can use adapters part number 91031831 to be able to mount these to the steel brake line.

its not necessary , gravity will keep the line full. the valve may stop the piston from going back further than they need to , possably giving you a shorter travel pedel.

yes you will need a 2psi on front and rear

If the master cylinder is the highest point in the brake system it would not be a must to use reidual valves in this application. However, it will keep pressure at caliper for quicker response.

No only if master cylinder is below calipers or wheel cylinders such as below your floor.

Not a must but the system will perform better (ie: higher pedal) with the residual valves installed

No this will need to have the included adapter fittings installed to use a 3/8"-24 inverted flare connection. These residual valves have 1/8" NPT female threads to make them more universal and fit more applications.

Wilwood 260-13706 Residual Pressure Valve, 2 PSI, Blue
(Part #83526013706)

These in-line pressure valves retain a minimum brake line pressure to help eliminate excessive pedal travel in disc brake systems. Residual pressure valves are made from billet aluminum with 1/8" npt female threads for the inlet/outlet and color coded for easy identification. Ideal for drag racing, circle track, street rod and many off road applications.

The two pound valve is used in disc brake applications where the master cylinder is mounted below the horizontal plane of the calipers and fluid drain back occurs from gravity and vibration, thereby causing excessive caliper piston retraction and a longer brake pedal stroke. The minimal two pound residual pressure prevents fluid from flowing back without causing the brakes to drag.
