Quick Release hub loose

July 20, 2015
Looks like a very nice hub but once you attach a steering wheel it is so loose that it cannot work for anything other than maybe a go-cart or cheap beater mud truck. I'm building a serious road course race car and this much play will absolutely cause a failure.
Pros:
  • Kit
  • collapsible
  • Price
Cons:
  • Loose Hub
No, I would not recommend this product.

Race car parts on the cheap

May 13, 2015
I bought this column to be used in an offroad truck with full hydraulic steering. The price was right, it's adjustable in length and it comes with the generic 3-bolt hub which are all great, but the color...Purple? It's something I'm willing to live with for the price. The play in the splines at the slip portion is a bit much too, which may cause an annoying rattle over time, but again, the price was right.
Pros:
  • Complete Almost Bolt-in
  • Inexpensive
  • Adjustable
Cons:
  • Color
  • Spline Slop
Yes, I recommend this product.

Hub fitment just too loose

February 06, 2014
Collapsible portion of column, heim joint, stops, and exterior finish of quick release hub were nice, but there is just too much slop between the splines on the shaft and the quick release hub. Hub moves around an 1/8" in any direction, which equates to about 1/4" of slop at the outside of the wheel. It might be good enough for a beater, but wouldn't do the trick for my road race car.
Pros:
  • Price
  • anodize finish on hub
Cons:
  • too much play in hub
No, I would not recommend this product.

Length I want to make sure I am correct before ordering. Total length of the steering column is 42 inches fully extended. I am guessing that 10 inches the collapsible section and another 10 inches the actual shaft movement (not part of the collapsible section). Please correct me if I am wrong.

You will need to weld in or bolt in, your choice, part number 91032720 up toward the steering wheel for the support heim. For support on the bottom end of this shaft you will need to add the 3/4" shaft starting just outside the firewall with a u-joint 91032247 going though the firewall. Also attaching support heim 1750757 outside the the fire wall allowing the 3/4" shaft to be supported.

To mate the collapsible column to a steering quickener like offered by Speedway with 3/4x36 male shafts you would use a U-joint number 91032287.
