GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO MUCH HIGHER COST SYSTEMS FOR BOMBER CLASS CARS!
I am using these in 3 1/2 inch stack pipes. Before I put these in I could not bare to stand next to my truck. It still sounds mean as heck but I don't need ear pluggs or worry about the police catching me for noise.

Can these mufflers be used for a street rod application, even if I used two in succession on both side of car? Do they need to be welded?

You could use these on a street rod. They won’t be very quiet, however if you aren’t using any other mufflers. The Speedway Auger Style Muffler, part number: 91013984, was developed to allow drivers to pass a muffler rule that some classes require. The decibel reduction they provide is minimal. They need a through bolt or welding to keep them in place.

I have them in my street rod truck. I would definitly say weld them in. They might rattle otherwise. You only need to tack weld them in like two spots for them to stay in place.

how do these mufflers effect performance compared to a hot dog muffler
Asked on 4/19/2011 12:14:54 PM by fossil from melbourne Fl
I would assume you are referring to a glass pack muffler. These auger mufflers will give equal or a little better performance compared to a glass pack type muffler but the auger will be much louder. We typically use these in racing applications where the rules state you must have a muffler but there are no decibel requirements.

I need more decibel reduction from an insert. do you have anything that will help?

The Dynatech insert cone would be the best option we have. 31177232520 for 3" or 31177232510 for 3-1/2"
