What's in the Box

For years it seemed like installing a 289-302-351W Ford in your street rod was a far bigger challenge than using a small-block Chevy. One significant problem was finding compact shorty headers. Well, problem solved! These tight-fit headers are designed to hug tight against your small block Ford V8 and can make seemingly impossible block hugger headers installations much easier to tackle. These block hugger headers are ceramic coated headers.

For factory style oval port heads. Will work with GT40P heads. Includes 2.5" collector reducers to 2.25" pipe, gaskets and bolts.

  • Must be used with 910-67210 style mini starter or equivalent compact starter
  • We recommend motor mounts 270-2221 (Left) and 270-2220 (Right)
  • Left mount may need to be ground 1/4” to provide clearance for collector
  • Fits engines with forward sump oil pans

S/B Ford Header Dimension Chart (GIF)

Application

Armor Hot Coating (AHC) is a heat resistant, ceramic coating applied to the outside of the header. This coating will reflect heat, which helps retain more heat within the header tube while simultaneously speeding up the exhaust flow. Not only will this coating help you make more horsepower, it also keeps your headers rust-free, looking great, and lasting longer (when properly maintained).  If you are looking for a show-quality finish for your headers, this is it! Our AHC will withstand exhaust temperatures of up to 1300° F.

Warranties

AHC Warning: AHC coatings will burn and be damaged at exhaust temperatures over 1300 degrees. A lean fuel mixture can generate exhaust temperatures exceeding 1700-1900 degrees. If the coating is damaged due to a lean condition, the coating will not be warranted, but can be recoated for a fee.

Not legal for sale or use in California on pollution controlled vehicles.

Easy fit, good looking

August 28, 2014
These headers fit perfectly with no interference to the starter and a flat mating surface to the block. I did have a problem with the first start up of the engine and break-in procedure. This overheated the ceramic and blistered it. I also had difficulty with the exit flange leaking. These problems were solved by replacing the headers with a new set at my expense due to the break-in temps. The exit flange leak problem was obviously known to the manufacturer and a redesign of the flange was present in the replacement set. In summary, my fault, my expense for the blistering. Buy the cheap headers for the break-in. The exit flange would be difficult to put blame to as the poor design is a common one.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Great fit and finish

August 10, 2014
I needed some tight fitting headers for my engine swap, and these headers fit the bill perfectly. My only other header option was more than double the cost and didn't have the larger 1 5/8" tubes that the Speedway headers have. I opted for the AHC coating, and I'm really pleased with the look.
Pros:
  • good apearance
  • tight fitting
  • Good Fit
  • Good price
Yes, I recommend this product.

Nice headers for my application

December 31, 2013
I am doing a custom installation of a Ford 302 into a Triumph TR7, and I searched for headers that pointed where I needed them to for several months. These headers looked like my best option, and they turned out to be just what I needed. The included bolts are black oxide coated, so I ordered stainless screws after the headers arrived. The ceramic coating finish is really nice. The starter speedway recommended does fit, but it's pretty close the header (maybe 3/4"). I can't find a shorter one, so this is the best option. These headers also run very close to any motor mounts I tried. I bought the mounts Speedway recommended, but ended up using something different (a bit stiffer). However, what I used required the corners of the mounts to be milled off to clear the headers. I made stainless heat shields to protect the rubber a bit.
Pros:
  • Nice Finish
  • Fit well
Cons:
  • tight to motor mounts
  • tight to starter
Yes, I recommend this product.

To confirm fit of these headers on your 67 Mustang with the tight clearance we suggest you take some basic measurements. From the head to the outermost part is 4.55 on the drivers side and 4.65 on the passenger side. From the top of the flange to the bottom of the collector on the drivers side is 10.25 and 11.0 on the passenger side.

On a 32 roadster if you are running a hood and hood sides you will be close if not touching the hood sides. From the head surface out 4.65” to the outermost part of the tubes at the bends. Depending on motor mounts there possibly can be clearance issues and also your steering could limit the use of these headers. On the drivers side from the top of the ports to the bottom of the collector is 10.25 and on the passenger side 11” for comparison to what you have available. Full dimensions are listed on our website for comparison to your available space.

No these are not a direct fit for your 1967 Mercury Caliente. Sorry I do not have the correct header for your application.

I've just installed them on my 302 with rear sump in my 1950 F-1/ with Camaro subframe, and had no clearance problems at all. I would think the 351 with taller deck height would be fine as well.

These headers work on the small block Ford V8’s and they are specific for right and left side for starter clearance. They can be used on both front or rear sump small blocks and in either case some of the motor mount, collector flange, or both will need to be ground to allow sufficient clearance.

As long as your heads have the OEM header flange configuration these headers should clear the frame rails on your ’32. There is a right and left side for necessary clearance requirement and the OEM style mounts are recommended. If using the donut style or other aftermarket mounts in the OEM location on the block in some cases trimming or grinding is required. These headers will require the use of a Mini starter such as Speedway’s 91067210.

I would highly doubt that these will fit in a Ranger. I believe there are some header companies that build a header for that exact swap. Sorry we do not offer the correct header for you.
