What's in the Box

These AHC small-block Chevy tight fit headers are the most universal steel tube headers available. These performance headers fit difficult applications where space is limited. They are a favorite for street rods, as well as many 1950s and 1960s cars and vintage trucks. These ceramic coated headers provide superior performance and durability.

Tight Tuck headers are the solution to many problems associated with engine swaps in modern street rods. Tight Tucks fit in the tightest of engine compartments and clear all stock motor mounts. Most headers are manufactured from durable 16-gauge tubing and comes complete with gaskets, header bolts and collector reducers.

Application

  1. Can be used with most oil filter systems and transmission/starter combinations.
  2. Will not fit '55-'57 Chevy cars, Camaros, or other modern vehicles which have a crossmember below the engine's center two exhaust ports.
  3. Will not clear a "clam shell" style motor mount (found on 1973-newer Chevy cars & trucks).

Warranties

AHC Warning: AHC coatings will burn and be damaged at exhaust temperatures over 1300 degrees. A lean fuel mixture can generate exhaust temperatures exceeding 1700-1900 degrees. If the coating is damaged due to a lean condition, the coating will not be warranted, but can be recoated for a fee.

Not legal for sale or use in California on pollution controlled vehicles.

Whoever is packing these items might want to look at them to see if they meets your advertised claim, before they ship. The exchange was handled very satisfactorily and new product sent out also did not match,but with both sets I was able to get a good looking set, they do look excellent and seem to hold up well once heated. Graet fit on a 32 ford with full hood

i have these on my 1932 Ford Vicky with a full hood. I have the headers that fit angle plug heads. They fit very nice and the finish is top notch. I would buy these again, in fact I have for other projects in my shop. The flanges are thick and the product looks to be well made.

The plating on the headers is not great

I bought a set of these to put on a Blueprint 383, they looked good at first, I cleaned properly before running engine, when I ran engine there was a large air leak in the collector, and 2 days later they started to surface rust. When I called tech/customer support they told me I voided the warranty on the coating and welds because they are not to be used on an engine that hasn't been broken in... but when I called tech support and told them about the application they would be used on they sure as heck sold them to me!
No, I would not recommend this product.

I use block hugging headers for their compact design. This frees up space in my engine compartment for easier maintenance and cleaning. The fit and finish quality of these headers far exceeded my previous ones and cost 1/3 less.

Our tight fit headers have the furthest out point at the bend in the tubes which is 4” and from the top of the flange to the bottom of the collector is 10”. The tubes wrap inward and are within 1” of the block at the collector flange which is directly below the center two cylinders. You can compare this with your frame to verify clearance.

how do I keep the header from leaking at the collector joint have used self locking bolts and several different gaskets types . the joint gasket will still leak after several heatcycles . exhaust pipes are properly mounted and not loose .

In some cases over tightening actually distorts the collector flange so check with a straight edge and correct if needed. If still leaking your local parts store should carry exhaust gasket or exhaust sealant. It normally comes in a tube and applied to both sides of the gasket. As it sets up it helps take care of irregularities. Some suppliers recommend only one side to ease removal down the road.

They stick out further from the block, than the ram horns do. But I am not aware of any that will be that tight to block. Ram horns will definitely not breath as good as these headers.

These tight fit headers may NOT fit all applications where ram horn manifolds were used. There were many different rams horn manifolds offered by GM with different outlet locations. From the head surface outward the tubes furthest point is 4” and from the top of the flange at the center two ports the collector is 10” down. On applications where the cross member is directly below the center ports it may be difficult to hook up the rest of the exhaust by the location of the collector.

Now made of durable stainless steel, these tight-fit headers feature a heavy duty 3/8" thick flange to minimize warpage with 1-5/8" diameter primary tubes and 2-1/2" diameter collectors. Block hugger headers are ideal for street rod engine swaps and can make tight installations easy. The head flange features tall oval ports, so they will fit a variety of small block Chevy cylinder heads (EXCEPT angle plug heads).
