6inch 4340 SBC rods

June 13, 2016
I build race engines an use these rods because the big end is right on the money size wise and the set weighs within 2/10 of a gram. If these rods fail its because other parts fail first......

October 05, 2015
These rods are very nice for the money. Very comparable to name brand rods. Only problem in had was the big end is a bit bulky as well as the rod bolt heads. I had to heavily clearence my stock stroke sbc to alow for room on full stroke

Awesome

May 26, 2015
I used these rods in my pro street motor that has ran strong for two years at 8000 rpm with no problem. The only complaint is that they were packaged better when I ordered them two years ago. Other than that thanks speedway for your parts that get me through dirt track racing.
Cons:
  • Box They Came In This Tim
Yes, I recommend this product.

May 23, 2015
I bought these rods for the affordability and I was amazed by the high quality rods I received for the amount I paid. Side by side comparison with rods that cost twice as much, can't tell the difference. Thank you Speedway for offering a superior product and an affordable rate.
Pros:
  • Durable
  • Strong
Yes, I recommend this product.

What is the MAX RPM for the rods?

Answers

December 10, 2013
EricM
There is no specified max RPM on this connecting rod. That is due to the fact that the weight of piston, stroke, and type of use greatly affect the RPM ability of any connecting rod. In practice we have seen these connecting rods used in engines from 305 to 412 cubic inches ranging from 300 to 600 HP for various applications. If you will be using a mid weight piston and a 3.75" stroke I would use this connecting rod up to about 7500 RPM in an endurance application. If used with a light weight piston and/or shorter stroke I would use it for even higher RPM than that. If you will be nearing 9000 RPM or higher I would recommend a lighter weight connecting rod with upgraded rod bolts.

Yes these are a 4340 forged H beam rods. These should work fine for a nitrous engine. Depending upon your power goals you may want to put a better rod bolt in them.
