Keep Your Ride Comfortable with Our Universal Under-Dash Heat and Air Conditioner

We may try to rationalize why we don’t have air conditioning in our hot rod, classic truck, or even our muscle cars by saying things like it robs horsepower, or air conditioning is for wimps. But let’s face it, air conditioning your ride will make it a much more comfortable summer cruiser and you may just get your significant other to ride with you. Afterall, no one wants to show up at the cruise in soaked to the bone from the ride in your “hot” rod with no A/C. And while vent windows and cowl air vents help when your ride is moving, they don’t do anything in stopped traffic or if it is raining, so adding a universal A/C system under your dash is a quick and straightforward way to cool your cabin and make your passengers happy.

The same can be said for having basic heat for the fall and winter months too. While most cars came with a water-based heater system, we know far too many owners that have ditched the old under-dash heater core and all the hoses under the hood to the engine in the name of weight savings (because race car!) or due to damage not easily repaired like the fiberglass heater. Whatever the reason may be, having some heat to take the chill off in the cooler months is no doubt just as important as those summer months where A/C makes the drive to the cruise-in, or that Friday fun drive to work tolerable.

Perfect For Applications Not Served by Direct Fit A/C and Heat Conversion Kits

Our universal under-dash heat and A/C kit is perfect for those who have a vintage or unique ride that isn’t typically served by a complete retrofit heat and A/C system. Or perhaps you’re working with a tight budget and piecing together your heat and A/C system and only need the basics. Our under-dash heat and A/C unit is simply that, the basics. The black ABS plastic housing measures 15.75 inches wide by 13 inches deep and just 6 inches tall, which encases the evaporator and heater core units, along with the twin scroll three speed fan motor. The front mounted vents provide ample airflow into the cabin and can use standard 2.50-inch vent hoses and dash vents to route the heated or cooled air to specific locations if desired. The remote mounted temperature and fan speed controls have a 24 inch harness length, allowing positioning where convenient to the driver (or flush mount the controls into your dash!).

Being an evaporator and heater only system, you will need to source the remainder of your A/C and heater system components separately. This allows you to build the perfect system for your ride and your budget. This is especially helpful for those with LS or other modern engine swaps where you may be using the OEM A/C compressor or an aftermarket serpentine accessory drive kit with A/C compressor included. Besides the compressor and accessory drive you’ll also need an A/C condenser (either direct fit or universal, depending upon your ride), a receiver-drier and an A/C hose kit to plumb the system. Of course, you’ll need to plumb the heater core to your engine with some fresh heater hoses too. Lastly, if you plan to run an electric cooling fan, you will want to upgrade the binary pressure switch included with your receiver-drier to a trinary switch with fan output signal.

Overall Assessment

Customers are generally satisfied with our product, praising its fit and ease of installation in various vehicle models, including a 1935 Ford coupe and a 1947 Dodge Custom. The compact design allows it to fit nicely even in small spaces, ensuring passenger comfort. The unit's versatile performance is admired, effectively providing 51-degree air conditioning and warm air for windshield defrosting. A potential downside identified by one user is the width of the unit; however, the majority highlight the practicality and value for money. The simplicity of the product and its unique availability have been positively noted in comparison to competitors.

Not a bad unit for a small hot rod interior. Fit nicely under dash of 40 ford coupe with lots of leg room for passenger.

The unit was a little too wide I might have to shorten it by an inch so I can get clearance between my steering column and my glove box in my 66 Ford F100 other than that that's my only fitment problem. Unless you have a shorter unit?

I bought this heating/ac unit because I have only seen it listed with you. The price was great and the shipping was fast. I saw it listed years ago but have not seen it in other catalogs for quite sometime. I will be using it in a 1947 Dodge Custom. It's an original 4dr snd except I just went from a 6 volt system to a 12 volt system. I can't wait to see hoe works.

Looks good under the dash and is putting out 51 degree air. Also the hook-up allows me to now have warm air to the wind shield to defrost if needed.

The Slim Line Heat/Air Unit is an excellent addition to the ROVER P5 rally car I am building. The one modification will be to put a figured- walnut face on it to match the dashboard.
