Unlike timing chains, a gear drive doesn't stretch, so your cam timing stays more accurate. We builds these drives with dual idler gears, making them more stable than single idler gear drives.     Quick change cam cover eliminates the need for dropping the oil pan when replacing timing chain or advancing camshaft. Fits small block Chevy with "long" style (1969-1986) water pump.

    Use of this cover with a "short" water pump typically causes clearance issues with the back of the pump. It can be used with a short pump, but the pump would need to be shimmed for clearance.

                Clevite's H-Series was developed primarily for use in NASCAR type racing, but  they are suitable for all types of competition engines. 
    • Use H-series bearings with crankshafts that have oversize fillets and where engines run in the medium to high RPM range.
    • H-Series bearings should be used if contact patterns obtained with P-series parts are too narrow. Contact pattern should ideally cover 2/3 to 3/4 of the bearing surface.
    • If you aren't sure which type of performance bearing to start with, the H-Series will be your best choice.

                Speedway Tight Lash cams produce a broad range of power due to the short amount of cam degrees it takes to go from .020" lift to .050" cam lift. This is known as major intensity. The shorter the span the more torque the lobe will produce, and for the lobe to run excellent up at higher RPM, it must have an excellent area under the curve. You can tell these do because of the very high duration at .200" cam lift. 

    Compare our numbers to other cam profiles and you will find that these are far superior!

    Our solid flat tappet cams offer superior performance and the very best value. These grinds are tried and tested!

    Note: This cam is not drilled for an accessory drive. Many sprint cars use a fuel pump, power steering, or dry sump oil pump mounted to the rear of the engine which is driven off of the back of the camshaft. This requires that the cam be drilled and tapped for the drive spud. Our flat tappet cams DO NOT have this modification. (Our roller cams already have this modification incorporated when manufactured.)

    If you are running a sprint or modified that uses a rear cam accessory drive and your local rules dictate that you run a flat tappet cam, you will have to take the cam to a competent machinist and have it drilled and tapped for the drive spud.
