Sorry Scat does not advertise an RPM rating on these rods.

My machinist balanced this set. He ground on the bottom of the rod. I think the maximum material removed was 1 gram. Are these still OK.? If I buy a repacement set where should he grind to balance? My application is a 400 sbc probably never turn more than 6500

no problem if he was careful. If he is smart enough to balance them they should be ok. Grinding the caps at the bottom is correct. Make sure they didn't get hot from grinding, and there are no radical low spots. 1 gram is almost nothing.

With an H beam style rod such as these grinding material away to balance is never an ideal situation. The more material removed the more strength that is compromised. You will have to decide if you are personally comfortable with them the way they are or if you would like to start over with a new set. When we balance rotating assemblies we do not remove material from these rods. We take an average weight of the big ends and small ends and use that to balance in order to retain the integrity of the connecting rods.
