Great Looks, Solid Performance

Debated between these and Wilwoods to save some money. So far, I am not disappointed with that decision. The calipers look awesome, rotors decent quality but the kit needs a bit of help. For example, they included 90 degree caliper fittings which rarely end up clocked in the right position for the brake line. Bought some Earl's straight and 90 degree swivel fittings instead. Also they included bearings but not new bearing races, mandatory since the old are likely grooved like mine. Little stuff. Will edit this if I end up with any issues.
Pros:
  • good pads
  • Easy To Install
  • Great looks
Cons:
  • fittings don't work for brake line placement
  • need bearing races with the new bearings

Have drums now. Can I use my existing hub? I plan to get your disc spindle. If I use my existing (drum) hub, replace the spindle with your stock GM disc spindle (thinner upper boss), I will have everything I need for this conversion, correct?

The speedway tech answered this. Kit uses the original, stock spindle and hub without any issues. And given that you're using original parts, this does not push the wheel out toward the fender lip like many kits do.

This kit will work with your stock drum brake spindles. There is no need to buy new spindles when using this kit. Your stock hubs will be reused as well.

I have a 1969 Nova with drum brakes my question is will this conversion change the hub to hub measurement, will it make it wider? Because of the ride height of my car and the wheels and tires that I have I don't have the room if the kit moves the wheels outward even a minor amount.

Speedway’s competition brake kit number 28612325 is available with Red, Black, Polished, or plain finish calipers and works on your stock Chevelle spindles. We also offer a kit for power brakes that works well with this disc brake conversion, it is part number 91031978 and includes the proportioning valve and fittings.

Brake kit number 28612325 uses 11” rotors and will likely not work with OEM 14” drum brake wheels. It will work with 15” or larger or most 14” disc brake compatible wheels.

Part number 28612325 This kit from Stainless Steel Brakes will work on drum or disc brake OEM spindles without modification and includes your ’69 Camaro. We also offer kit number 91031958 which will work with the disc brake spindles we also offer under part number 91034900. The kit will work on the original drum brake spindles but you will need to grind or machine off approximately .610 off the upper backing plate bolt boss.

Part number 28612325 This kit can be used with a booster for the extra stopping power you may want. You will need to have a booster in dual diaphragm configuration and sufficient vacuum in order to achieve additional power assist. Manufacturers recommend 18-20 inches of vacuum at the booster.

Speedway part number 28612325. These brake kits are going to fit Camaros and Firebirds from 67-69 only, so they will not fit your 79 Camaro and Firebird.
